The more mature the player is, the more that they respect the Torts himself. Now if only PLD could see the light.

What is it with goal scoring winger RFAs from Lumbus getting paid this offseason. Him and Anderson seem to be the only guys who got money and term who aren't proven studs. Literally everyone else got nickle and dimed. Bizarre

I will at least give Dubas some credit for buying out some UFA years for Marner. The Matthews contract is IMO the only true abomination of the bunch.

It's because Columbus has loads of cap space to do it, and so did Montreal (at the time).

There's no surprise that he want's to leave. Our window is now, and once he leaves, I will be calling for a re-build

I'm not a fan of this. I view Oliver as a 3rd line guy. Yeah he puts up almost 40pts a year but idk just not a fan of him. (Personal Opinion) Good for him tho to get paid!

Bjorkstrand is a solid 20 goal guy with the potential to be a regular 30 goal scorer. If he and Dubois hit that next level, they’ll be a real deadly pair to look out for.

I also like the signings CBJ has done lately. Keeping guys under $6M, no doubt that will help save money when Jones is due for his monster deal

The thing is that the Jackets have so much cap room, both now and in the future, that they can essentially pick-and-choose the core that they want to keep. Bjorkstrand is one of those guys, and I'm pretty sure that Jones will be, as well. Jarmo clearly wants PLD, but PLD is still anti-Torts. Hopefully (for them) he matures enough in a couple of years to see the light.

career high is 40 points....? the advanced stat guys will explode over this deal but to me this seems a little high. this screws the capitals when they try to sign Vrana.... ugh

I was hoping 5-5.5million.... Vrana imo is better than OB... He's not nearly as good as Guentzel who make 6 million. i think its going to be closer 6 now frown

It’s already been said that PLD wanting out isn’t because of Tortorella, it’s because he wants to play in a bigger market.

Lot of people knocking this, but Jake Guentzel was a 48 point player the year before he got his pay day.
This deal is 2 years later and a bit less. I think it's a solid deal. The hope is he can explode for more, He's only 25 this year. Has shown good trajectory.

With what cap are capitals going to pay him 6M next year??? Am leaning towards 2x 4-4.5M Still rfa after deal, and perhaps in two years they can afford to give him smt like 6x7M if production has stayed good.
