How I see it with slow start

Created by: OutCold13

Description
Sharks are worth watching for a couple reasons this year. If the problem was them being warn out and injured they could surprise teams, but if they are just getting old then it's a total rebuild.

This scenario is the total rebuild, which would start a couple weeks before the trade deadline, after Doug Wilson has poked them with a stick a bit and confirmed that they are in fact dead.

First shot on these trades interested from the various fan bases on how bad they think the value and fit is on these trades.

I could be completely off, Sharks aren't my number 1 team but they are who I cheered for when Norm Green stole the Stars from Minnesota, so I could be way off.

Ekholm > Kane and on a much better contract... why is NSH adding?

Ekholm > Kane not sure I agree. Contract is better but preds could use a Kane type in their top 6 and for expansion reasons the preds would be smart to move a defenseman, most agree it should be Ekholm.

I don't disagree that they may end up moving Ekholm due to expansion draft concerns, but he is definitely better than Kane. And his contract only makes him even more valuable, especially during a flat-cap.

both players are good but i dont think nash would add that much - dont love the trade for nash even tho i like kane alot. sharks would have to add even if kane lights it up
ekholm outplays his contract but sharks have to resign him whereas kane is okay for his price but the term is long. sharks would take it even tho they have to pay ekholm soon whereas nash doesnt need to take it i think

i dont like the EK trade for either team (at the same time I do like losing the cap but not the player and the devils lose subban but take alot of cap)

and the hertl trade is "fair" but still idk if carolina would do it but its not terrible... just cause of the age factor but hertl definitely deserves a good return.

I don’t see why Detroit would be interested in dumping an extremely early second rounder for that. That Nashville trade is pretty lopsided in Sharks favor.

Kane trade I agree is off, though I do think everyone on here undervalues him for his presumed attitude, he’s a power forward who has scored at or close to 30 goals for the last 4 seasons and has showed no signs of slowing down.
I would prefer prospects and. Draft picks and a short term cap dump over a proven vet as in this case we’re building for the future.

Marleau wont be going to Carolina he forced them to buy him out when Toronto traded him there!
I’d want a 1st a decent player and a top prospect for Hertl who is 26 and on a very reasonable contract.

Karlsson for subban straight up is fine by me but won’t ever happen, Karlsson isn’t worth his deal and looks washed up and Even if New Jersey offered this Wilson’s ego won’t let him admit he was wrong.

Burns deal is shorter so I’m not against keeping him for 2 more years then trading his last 2 years where his cap is 8 but salary is 4 to a team needing to get to the cap floor.

If you managed to get a 1st for Karlsson you'd be crazy to waste it to dump a few years of Burns, the pick is more valuable in a rebuild then that cap space is.

i don't think Nashville needs/wants Kane or his knack for taking penalties. Our PK hasn't been great the past couple seasons. Also with Kane's playing style i worry about how the back end of that contract is gonna turn out.

It would take a lot to make anyone give up a 2022 1st or 2nd! so if we do get rid of Karlsson for Subban and a 1st if I was GM we would keep that fist!
Burns is not the problem on this team and he's aging well so far so hold onto him at least for 2 more years. if were rebuilding why dump prospects or picks to free up space. we don't need the cap space.

and yes no one is giving us a 4th for Handemark and Dahlin, much less a 2nd and a 4th.

Just wanted to say thank you for all the responses. Nashville is a organizational dead zone to me, just can't find out much about it. Definitely the most Preds fans I've seen on CF.
Apparently I think to highly of Kane and maybe misplaced the fit.
Didn't get much feedback on the Devils trade, but I just figured I would try it, since I think it could be a fit.
I put the Wings deal in there because the organization has been drafting a fair amount of Swedes as of late so I figured it might be a fit that and GMSY tried signing Handemark before he signed with the Sharks.
For the Sharks fans, I agree prospects and picks are more desirable but given the size of the contracts getting moved out and the stagnant cap I don't see that being reality. So I see two rounds of trades one for shorter term contracts and then a second to get prospects and picks.

    Anyway thanks again.

so im going to try and do my usual, instead of "wings pass" ill explain my actual thoughts instead of just crapping on everything you did here,

I do agree, the sharks trade with kane is really lop sided in the sharks favor, i do think Preds would want kane, but giving up that is too much, re work it and im sure there might be a fit here.

The wings trade is a little strange, neither guy has really played any time in the NHL have they? I dont know too much about them, but i actually think the wings might have interest in a couple high producing swedes, but considering ones 27 and again neither have proven anything in the NHL i doubt a 2nd+4th works, maybe a single 3rd? Yzerman hasnt really shed any higher picks for prospects, but again maybe theres a deal here just doubtful a 2nd is inc,

lastly the PK subban trade is i think a good idea even tho i doubt the sharks would want to part with karlsson and admit his contract is too high, PK hasnt worked out many places since leaving Montreal, but he is much better than people give him credit for, and Karlsson is obviously amazing, but his contract doesnt exactly fit what he produces IMO (i think 11 is crazy high) but so is subban even at 9?.. so maybe there is a deal there? but i dont think it would be a 1st from NJ only because they may draft pretty high again this next year,

this is a tough one to make work and have people not trash it (which is always every single trade) but i think san jose needs to change things up and NJ would be very willing to move PK for Karlsson

    No problem, you're fine man!!

Not that Kane isn't good but imo his cap hit is a little high. Ekholm is very underrated as us NSH fans have expressed, lol.

    If we are rebuilding:

Kane to Vancouver for Eriksson and draft picks
Couture to Buffalo for Okposo and draft picks
