To add and prove my point, look at the David Ayers' game. A strong, defensively sound Canes team with a ZAMBONI DRIVER in net, who is in his early 40's by the way, beat an offensive sound Leafs team with a weak defensive structure and good goaltending in Andersen.

You answered your own question - it would take moving 12.5 Million dollars in cap hits to take on 8.5 from Hamilton while weakening the forward group and goaltending positions. TOTALLY worth it, LOL.

I think if you believe that both 1) Dougie won’t sign in Carolina and 2) he would choose to come to Toronto - you are looking at the wrong defensive target. Even though he’s from the GTA doesn’t mean he’d want to play there.

I'd honestly prefer to target Parayko. Showed great chemistry with Rielly in the World Cup of Hockey, he's a massive, physical, mobile right shot defenceman, and would be the perfect compliment to Rielly imo. He probably wouldn't cost this much either.
