EDM
Matthews, Auston
Marner, Mitchell
Nylander, William
Andersen, Frederik
TOR
Nugent-Hopkins, Ryan
Draisaitl, Leon
Koskinen, Mikko
Bouchard, Evan
Yamamoto, Kailer
2021 1st round pick (EDM)

It's not bad, but it's also pretty extreme.

Toronto would have a difficult time giving up Matthews, but they are getting Draisaitl.
I'm sure lots of TML fans would like to swap out Marner for someone good, but making less money. Yamamoto doesn't compare to Marner, but add in Bouchard and a 1st, and it's a decent swap, and lower cap.
Nylander for RNH, yes you're giving up 3 years, but you're getting similar to better production for less money
Andersen for Koskinen would make the Andersen haters happy, maybe

It's isn't as horrible as people might think. I'm not saying they should do it, but it's not a bad offer. I'd add in Lavoie or Benson, just to offset some age differences.

Nope, Matthews is way better than Draisaitl, Marner is way better than Nuge, Nylander is right now way better than Yamamoto and Andersen is way better than Koskinen. Bouchard I am not sure is any better than Liljegren and a late 1st isn't making up the difference at all.

There’s no way Edmonton does this. Matthews, Marner and Nylander make way too much money, it would destroy the cap structure Holland is working towards. Considering you want comparable players while saving around $15M!! per year, this trade is completely ludicrous. You can keep those guys and continue living in cap hell. They are very skilled players true, but the cap situation means you’ll never get close to a Stanley cup with “the big 4”.

This is the other side of the coin, how much is cap relief worth? I still don’t support this trade idea, but it’s not far off in value.

How much is cap relief worth you ask? Let’s take a stab. How many firsts would it take for Detroit to take on James Neal? And he’s only overpaid by about $3.25M dollars ( I put his value at around $2.5M) for the next 3 years. So take that number of picks and multiply it by 5 to get to $15M per year in cap savings.

It’s a lot. My guess is a first and a third, so something like 6 first round picks in total. So if you send 6 firsts Edmonton’s way, then sure.

And again I’m saying skill wise the trade would be in Edmonton’s favour, but taking the salary cap into consideration, it becomes entirely one sided.

Oilers lose in the long run. Cap wise. And overall skill. I disagree with all the leafs fans stating their players are better then all of the Oilers here. Bouch and a first definitely tips the scales as well. Can this season please get started so leafs fans can shut the **** up already.

maybe If points were the only thing that mattered, which is the logic of a 8 year old. the difference in their defence is way bigger than the difference in their offence

Draisitals better by landslide Iam not having this argument with you right now, you could use the defense excuse for sooooo many other good players in this league. I guess leafs fans will never change.

Fact that you just said landslide makes your opinion completely irrelevant
