Monahan for Dubois isn't going to cost a 1st also. Window dressing yes.

That Philly deal is God Aweful. Couturier will be a great add on the 2nd line, but Ghost's contract playing 3 pairing minutes is terrible. Flip him at least!

From a Philly perspective, Johnny's output is pretty close to Couturier, so what would be the point? Short of moving their 1st line centre.

Couturier is much more than a 2nd liner..

That first deal is the epitome of insanity for what have you done for me lately. The only advantage PLD has on Monahan is age. Monahan has been waaaaaay better in his career and still in his prime.

That Gaudreau trade is.... Fascinating. Gaudreau before last year was literally a top 7 or so winger in the league. I think he was like 10th in points over a 3 year period. But he's coming off a bad (for him) year but still in his prime but only signed for two more years. His value is... Hard to pin point.

Couturier is also hard to pin point. Drafted as an offensive force. Spent 5-6 years with moderate offensive output but developed into a great two way c. Then picks up his offense to first line when Giroux goes on his wing. Great contract.

I just have so much trouble comparing them as they're so different.

Just going to put it out their that when looking at lines, not starting the season with Lucic, Bennet, and Dube together is just criminal. After the playoffs, you keep them together as long as they stay the way they were. It makes no sense to split them up atm.

Kind of the other way around. Giroux's career was rejuvenated when he's was put on Couturier's wing. Couturier took off when they took him out of a bottom 6 shutdown role and put him on the top line with pp time. Even during Giroux's 102 point season, Couturier was the Flyers' best player and has been easily for the past three years.

I'll take your word for it. Still such a different trajectory than Gaudreau
