Love when they do this then just pretend like they would still get Pasta at 25 the year prior. Redrafts are a 2-way road

Nope it's a massive unknown. Everything after those 3 picks changes. Draft picks, trades, FA, game results and standings. Take every player off the Bruins that happened after those 3 picks because who knows if they'd be here....

Pretty sure Bruins fans only really care about McAvoy. Everyone else on this list is replaceable. And yes that includes Carlo

yea. bruins scouting blew it.

bruins may not have the same players they do now but i'd imagine they'd still be able to uncover some solid nhlers. add that to an insanely talented core and they would be a dynasty.

Just saying it's not impossible to replace a top 4 d-men. Maybe not at his price or age though

Here's the thing though, you have no idea how they develop here, if they'd be given the same opportunities as their current situation. I mean you look at a guy like William Karlsson:

Pre VGK:
183GP / 18G / 32A / 50PTS / ATOI 13:44

1st Year VGK:
82GP / 43G / 35A / 78PTS / ATOI 18:43

The guy in his first year with VGK had nearly has many goals as he did points for his entire career. Thomas Chabot is one that 100% doesn't get the opportunity in Boston that he did on Ottawa. He would have been playing 3rd pairing behind Chara and Krug.

Exactly. It’s so unpredictable. It doesn’t work like this. This isn’t a vacuum. Plus Boston hit in 2014 and 2016 so I don’t feel sorry for them at all.

100%. He’s a good player, but he’s replaceable. He’s not a “core guy” or a player you build around. Just strong supporting cast.

Wow this is impressive, why hasn’t anyone else mentioned this before? That’s a much better draft for Boston. Well done

Exactly! Kinda like these Dubois/Laine trades on here, think we've seen enough of those already.

BTW, welcome to capfriendly, where the posters like to beat the dead horses to a pulp.

It’s funny Rask thinks he’s going to retire a Bruin right after Chara is forced out.

The difference is Rask is still an elite player and 10 years younger... also Chara chose to play for another team in order to play a certain role. He had every opportunity to retire a Bruin if he was willing to take a lesser role... i dont blame him, but its not like he was forced out.

Exactly. Not to mention this team is almost 5 mil over the cap, with a 20 man roster and somehow with Barzal at 1.4 mil??? why would he sign that cheap.

That's just it I'm not assuming anything. They could have been better, they could have been worse, they could have been the same. That's why these hindsight "didn't suck at drafting" ACGM's are pointless. Its a rabbit hole of possibilities.

There's a story that during the draft, someone in the isles org went ballistic when Barzal was available and made a comment like "someone is going to get F-ing fired". I'm always curious if someone actually did
