Kopitar at 10.5 mill at his age
Dubois 22 year old 1C

This trade doesn’t make sense unless LA is adding an A level prospect to this trade

The last thing LA needs is more centers. Between Vilardi, Turcotte, and Byfield, they have the 1C/2C slots more than covered, even after Kopitar retires. If the Kings are looking to make a splash, they should be looking at wingers.

Unless Columbus entertains a painfully low offer, the Kings shouldn't be in on PLD.

Dubois also plays LW. They still need to 2 top 6 wings(RW,LW) Dubois and Bemstrom would fulfill that.

10.5? No. 10M, and this is 2M retained so 8M Kopitar.

A prospect? Man you insanely overvalue Dubois.

We disagree on the value so let's just agree to disagree.

Does he actually play LW, or does the website just have him listed as LW? I've seen him play in a dozen games or so, and not once have I seen him on the wing.

There's no way Kopitar or Doughty (the only two veterans worth anything) waive their NMC/NTC to go to Columbus, so it's moot anyway.

CBJ hasn't had another center that would allow them to put him at LW, he probably played it in the mirrors or a few games otherwise they wouldn't have added LW under his name.

Didn't Kopitar's clause expire?

His NMC expired at the end of last season, but he still has a NTC that allows him to specify a 7-team acceptable trade list. I'm pretty sure Columbus wouldn't be on anyone's trade list.

I think that Columbus would be more interested in Vilardi or Turcotte than Kopi. Using the Stone and Pacioretty trades as low and high, and remember that they came with pre-negotiated extensions, I would think one of those two plus our 2021 second plus Iafallo might be enough.

Dubois suffers the same issues that Barzal has on Long Island. Plays for a defensive coach and has to be more responsible at both ends of the ice so he sacrifices more points. Kopitar has actually been this way his whole career. He’d probably be more than a point a game player in a more offensive system but they wouldn’t have 2 cups so ........
