I also think Matthews cements himself as a top 3 player and the best two way centre in the game. I think he's going to have a monster year, health permitting.

I'm not convinced on the Habs like others are, they remind me of the hype train people were jumping on last year for New Jersey.

That is certainly possible. I wouldn't be surprised if they get burned by the stars on other teams too often. They have good depth and speed but lack top end talent.

Well the have some top end talent but none at forward, they could try a St. Louis or NYI approach but even then those teams still have better offensive stars

I do think they matchup very well against Edmonton, Ottawa and Vancouver but not sure how they will fair against TO, Calgary or Winnipeg

People on here have way to much faith in TOR. Teams worse than last year. Still have the same defensive problems, got slower all over the ice. They were on their way to not being a playoff team last year, I don't see how that changed.

Quite honestly I don't think any team is a lock for a playoff position. I think this will be the toughest division to predict how they will finish. IMO even Ottawa could finish top 4 or last depending on how things play out. Best guess though I would say

1/2 Toronto-Montreal
3/4/5 Winnipeg-Calgary-Edmonton
6/7 Vancouver-Ottawa

But as I said above this could really be any order every team has their strengths and weaknesses it will be who can exploit those weaknesses more often that will determine who finishes near the top. I think when all is said and done no more than 15 points will separate all 7 teams.

So you just are going to ignore reality all together. Under Keefe they were 8th overall. totally on their way to missing the playoffs. troll post

are you going to ignore they were saved by the bell?
That 5 teams in the metro had better records. That a 6th one CBJ was tied with them. Tell me, when are you basically 6-7th in a division are you actually a good team?
How FL was 1 game and 3 points behind them and closing. That if the season doesn't end FL probably beats them to the last playoff spot?

But yeah, they're great. Clearly.
As I said, they are a worse team this year than last. They got older and slower in search of solving immaturity of the players and a spine.

stop crying about injuries every team has injuries.
It's just a deflection of reality.
On top of it injuries have nothing to do with them getting older and slower and the defense still be mediocre at best.

you're anti leaf...because you're not a leaf homer........cries.
my god get a grip.
Your bottom 6 is worn with guys who can't skate anymore.
You added one guy to your defense who is "ok", and then run with the same garbage you had playing last year when it was god awful and you think it's going to improve?

This team got worse not better. That's an objective fact.
This team has coasted with the easy division they were in with only 2 pure playoff teams and a bunch of meh..... and they we going to lose a playoff spot to that.
But you are going to sit here and act like it's a good team. It's not.

Also they aren't slow but Dallas was super slow, St Louis is way slower than TO. TO has a lot of speed and added grit, urgency, leadership, depth and will not have Hutchinson as the backup. Fun fact, TO had a winning percentage close to Tampa (top 3 league wide) if you take Hutchinson out of the equation so yeah, TO has no chance lol

3rd line is Kerfoot, Hyman and Mikheyev, wow 3 fast guys. Try to at least have a bit of an idea.

fun fact, practically every TOR fan on here was trading Andersen away because of his stellar play. But lets blame it all on Hutchinson....that sounds about right. Everyone needs a scapegoat.
Good luck in a harder division this year.

when someone points out the fact that your goalie was a .909 save % and you act like the problem was the backup and everyone else is clueless.
the arrogance is real in this one for sure.
