Seems like a really expensive buy for Edmonton, especially when there's more of a pressing need (in the event of a go-for-it-run) for a top-4 LHD, not RHD. A better backup or starter should be on the menu too.

I think if I'm the Oilers, I'm reserving that first and other prospects for something akin to Hjalmarsson + Raanta. I don't trade Lavoie for anything shy of a quality RFA winger, of which he'd be a key piece of a package. Very excited for what a proper shoot-first, big-bodied forward can do alongside McDavid.

Kings could have picked Lavoie if they wanted to, but they past on him for a reason. All of these trades are bad for LA. The only cap dumps the Kings will take are ones where a 1st round pick is coming back. Blake already stated he's not interested in trading players or acquiring minor assets.

Kaliyev being available at #33 is less of an indictment on Lavoie than you're suggesting. I reckon that's less passing on him and being shocked that a projected mid-first talent was available in the early second round.

This isn't a move that will interest the Canes. Likely losing one of Gardiner, Bean or Fleury to seattle means they need all the defenseman they can muster, and Gardiner isn't a cap dump

Panik, Clark, 2nd, 3rd for Amadio

Panik hits for $2.75M. He wasn't good last year, but he wasn't bad either. You have the Capitals giving way too much to "pay" to move a not-that-bad contract of a not-that-bad player.

Take out the 2nd and make it Clark OR the 3rd.

Counters:
Panik, 3rd for 7th

He's the kinda guy you could have for $1M from free agency currently. I don't think Caps is moving the guy without overpaying due to his term.

If the Capitals want a little cap space they have a few guys that they can move. Panik, Hagelin, Jensen, Kempny. I still say the a 2nd, 3rd, Clark is far overshooting the cost to move Panik, but they can just move whoever would cost the least to move. No need to to way overpay to move Panik.
