Description
It’s a lot to give up and this hurts at first, with Hertl gone there will be a lot of pissed off fans but swapping Hertl with PLD is close to fair and he’s 5 years younger with more team control, Strome were giving up a lot again but he becomes our 2C moving Couture to wing where I feel
He will be more successful (just like we did with Marleau back in the day) Armia because we need a Right shot.

Montreal does this because—they are over the cap at the moment and Corey Perry / Matt Nieto fills in for Armia quite nicely IMO especial
When both combines make 1.1 mil less
Than Armia on his own.
Chicago does this because they have a glut of Centers and they are in the middle of a rebuild and two bottom line player and a good D prospect with a 1st should be a fair price.
Columbus does this because— well PLD wants out and this gives them a really good Center who helps them winnnow and a young RW with a ton of big play ability.
Everyone gets what they need everyone Wins with these trades
Sharks are younger and stronger and have more cap space for next year this way.

MTL are over the cap because they didnt waived anyone yet
We dont have to do anything to be cap compliant

Ok but who are you waiving?cause your 23 man roster shows you over by 1.16 mil if you trade Armia your under by just about 760k giving just enough leeway for trade deadline

I'd gladly accept that strome trade as a hawks fan. Especially since I doubt cbj accepts that PLD trade then pair that with sj goaltending and that 1st round pick is gonna be a lottery pick

No cause then you’d get our 2022, I’m still on board there is no one in this draft with Strome’s potential IMO

If its lottery projected (which SJS should require, because they will be a lottery team) then the Hawks pass. You're right in both areas...they do have a glut of centerman and DStrome might not be in their long term future, BUT most Hawks fans (including myself) think his stock is about to jump. He's a good center and can score. He's never been on the #1 PP like he will be now.

Well if Sharks could pull this off, it would definitely push the rebuild can down the road.

Weal and Frolik go to taxi squad and Montreal plays with a 21 man roster. If someone claims one of them not a huge deal. They have Jake Evans that can be brought up if need be and is waiver exempt. Much better to lose Weal and/or Frolik to waivers then give up Armia for next to nothing.

I think if you asked a few weeks ago the answer was yes from Hawks but right now with Toews out an undisclosed length of time and Dach out for the season, Strome is the closest thing to a 1C as they have. He’ll play with Kubalik/Cat (potential of 30 goals from each) on left and Kane on right. Plus he’ll have a ton of PP time and he’s the guy who crashed the net on the PP to get the garbage goals and tip ins. This might be a big year for him offensively and his stock will skyrocket. For that, hawks say no. They also have a gluttony of bottom 6 talent they don’t need more.

Bergevin said he’s done, he won’t have a 23 man roster but he will be under the cap without trading anyone. From what we seen of camp, Weal Perry Frolik Juulsen will be sent on waivers. Byron-Evans-Lehkonen will probably be the 4th line, they a good in camp. Mete is the only scratch player
