This return is honestly spot on. A lot of NYR fans don't want to accept that this is the value of a 22 year old 1C. I hate to lose Lundkvist but he would absolutely need to be part of the package. He projects as a potential top 2 D, top 4 at worst. Chytil is a top 9 forward and Buchnevich is a top 6 forward. And the first, well that just ups the value.

Dubois could be the final piece for the NYR, and gives them a top 6 that includes Panarin, Zibanejad, Lafreniere, Kakko, Dubois, and Kravtsov/Kreider. And despite losing Lundkvist, we still have Fox, Miller, Trouba, Lindgren, and eventually Robertson and Schneider.

I think this is probably the most accurate representation of Dubois's trade value. NYR ACGMs on this site typically want to send spare parts like B level prospects and Ryan Strome, while CBJ ACGMs are asking for Kakko, Lafreniere, or Fox lol. I think you've found the most fair package.

Look at the RFA's needing new contracts after the season. You're screwing yourself. Rangers can't take on anymore salary without knowing how much they have to spend on their on RFA's first. It's not smart

DeAngelo and Strome will both be gone in the next two years. Only person getting a huge deal in the next 3 years is Laf and maybe Kakko or Fox if they perform well enough. Everyone else can and will be bridged if need be to buy time till other deals come off the books. It won’t be easy, but it’s a good problem to have when you have too many players to pay. Plis we’ve got enough young guys coming up to replace guys as they price themselves out of NY. But this trade solidifies our top 6.

Lafrieniere is gonna cost more than you think. Kakko will be a good chunk of change. Shestyorkin will be too. Not to mention K'Andre Miller. Then Fox is likely to be one of the higher paid RFA d-man there's been. Then you're looking at UFA's Zibanejad and not to mention if you made this deal for PLD that he's need a new contract the same time Zibanejad would.

You're screwing yourself over for the sake of adding a guy that's a big name. Chytil will be fine as a 2C behind Zibanejad and he's not costing you anything to get. PLD is overhyped on here, and he doesn't really fit the Rangers roster well

Rangers have most of Lundqvist and Shattenkirk's contracts coming off the books for next season and Smith will no longer be under contract. I agree NYR shouldn't trade for PLD, but instead sign a UFA center. With the flat cap UFA players are now signing for short term contracts.
