My very original idea

Created by: EccE
Team: 2020-21 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 10, 2021
Published: Jan. 10, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
PLD is a very good center. His ceiling is an elite center and the floor is top-6 so you can't go wrong with him. He would fit the Wild very nicely and hold the 1st line spot until Rossi is ready.

Dumba and the 1st are the main piece of this trade. Assuming this deal is done at the deadline, Dumba has bounced back from last year. He can be a 50 point D, and also showed a very good defensive play in the play-ins. The 1st is the lower one of the two Wild has but it still will be in the top-20, for sure.

F. Johansson is a former first-rounder who is a project. He needs a new home, because in Minnesota he does not have the GM:s support anymore.

Sturm is a replacement center for PLD, whose job is to fill a spot in the lineup before CBJ finds a real replacement.

What needs to be added?
Trades
CBJ
  1. Dumba, Matt
  2. Johansson, Filip [Reserve List]
  3. Sturm, Nico
  4. 2021 1st round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
The pick will be the lower one of the two, assume PLD signs an extension with the Wild.

Can't see CBJ doing it. The assets they're gaining here are of the least needed. Their defense is settled. Johansson looks like a bust and Sturm's ceiling is a 3rd liner. They'll be losing outright. Plus adding a D right before the ED would mean they'd likely lose Gavrikov to SEA.

I think that Minnesota and Columbus don't fit as trade partners in this scenario, but tried to propose something because everyone else does so too. 👍

That's fine.

And yeah I kinda agree. I don't think the pieces that are on the market from Wild are that interesting for CBJ to begin with.

You assumed DuBois was going to resign I think that’s a bad assumption considering he said he wants to play in a big market that Eliminates Minnesota

Minnesota is a huge hockey market, just so you know.

Friedman said bigger stage, not bigger market. You could take it as a big city or more involved fan base (the latter of which Minnesota is).

As for the trade, remove Sturm and Johansson and add Boldy or Rossi and Columbus probably considers that. Still think they're looking for a forward as the main piece over Dumba, though.
