Description
For anyone who watched it you know who the stand outs were

Showed great: Lehtonen and Boyd both played great but I don't think anyone expected Boyd to show like he did.

Showed well: Robertson, barabanov, engvall, Joey Anderson, Hollowell and Sandin. Robertson did play well but I'm not sure it was enough to push Vesey down. I was very happy with barabanovs pick pursuit and speed, I think he has a good offensive eye like mikky just needs a bit more time to get used to the small ice. Joey Anderson showed some good vision and some good speed/edge work.

As for the regulars Marner and Campbell were by far the best.

I think Boyd definitely showed enough to be able to say he is the first guy up if someone isn't cutting it I personally believe that both he and Spezza will rotate because I think Spezza has lost a gear but is still a valuable asset and can make some stuff happen I just don't think he will be able to keep up in the condensed season.

If a top nine winger goes down due too injury Robertson is the guy without question.

Taxi squad is in order of first forward and first dman up if someone is injured

Are they going more balance for all the lines or what’s going on here?

Hyman and soup should be in the top 6 imo.

Seems to be the plan. Matthews/Marner and Tavares/Nylander pretty much make up a line on their own. Guess they figured strengthen the bottom six.

Edit: Also, since no one else seems willing to say it: Lehtonen did not look good. I'm not that concerned about it; there's an adjustment period to playing smaller ice. But everyone's raving about his showing and it's pretty undeserved, imo.

Brodie fixed a lot of the concerns on D. Mo muzzin and Brodie are high end. They should be good enough in that division

Figured that Boyd signing would be a good one for the Leafs, thought he was a quietly good signing for a league minimum salary.

Putting them on the 3rd line doesn't really hurt the top 6 but does make for a much better 3rd line. It's an interesting idea and Keefe has already said Hyman will rotate onto the top line from time to time (defensive zone starts, later in the game etc)

I thought he looked fine, I didn't notice Bogosian at all. I thought Liljegren and Sandin both looked good. They still need to grow as all young players do but their tools are terrific. Liljegren especially looks really strong.

I think Boyd is getting unfair recognition, he had a good game but he was playing primarily against other bubble players. Brodie and Rielly definitely still need to iron out some things but I see great potential there. Campbell looks fantastic to my eyes as well. Many will be calling for Andersen's head immediately but I think him and Campbell will be one of the top tandems in the league this year.

All in all, I very much like this team.

Their depth on the Blueline is so much better than last year. Rielly, Muzzin and Brodie are all clearly top pairing defenceman and Holl, Bogosian, Lehtonen, Sandin, Dermott and Liljegren look like they are capable. Poor Marincin may not see a game this season.

I wasn't a fan of his game. I'm not worried, I just didn't think he played very well. I did notice Bogosian; not in a good way though. I agree about everything else.
