This is so wrong on so many levels.

Laine isn’t a UFA after this year. We aren’t trading Drouin, and Lehkonen + some picks isn’t nearly enough for Laine. And why the hell are you just giving Drouin away after trading for him? Did the Panthers blackmail you?

If the Laine trade actually happened I'm pretty sure they'd keep Drouin to somewhat replace Laine in the top 6 instead of giving Drouin away and trying an aging Perreault there.. Lol

All understood, but getting a 1st pick, plus Lek in a trade where they move Laine out is based on what's being said in the media. While Win ain't gonna lose him for nothing since he's RFA it's never good to keep someone who wants out. (Based on post in the media). If they move him out now, and move Drouin has he comes in in a three way deal, they get cap money AND picks.

Not saying it's the best trade, but with the cap not moving and the need to keep other players then something needs to give. Tough choices need to happen.

Some of your points might be valid, but making a bad trade where Winnipeg loses massively on value and skill when they don't have to, is never a smart option.

Don't deal Laine...yet. Give this kid all the opportunity to succeed this season and if he still wants to leave then sell him off to the highest bitter...Ill drive him to the airport.
