That's even worst value for the Stars, let's examine this:

Hintz=Hintz
1st=1st
Harley=Dell
Jrob>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Second

Dubois is better than all of them, but Hintz could get close to him with time (not as good). But I don't think the difference between Hintz and Dubois is a 1st round pick, a former 1st round pick and good prospect who could help us with future scoring depth. Also having to pay Dubois and Heiskanen in the next 2 years is gonna be a pain in the butt. In general the money doesn't work to well.

After thinking a lot about the other trade scenario of us getting Dubois, I have to admit that I revised my position.

Is Dubois' value is:

- Hintz or Gurianov, that are at the beginning of their best years
- + a high end prospect in Dellandrea or Bourque or Robertson
- + a first round pick

I think not.

Do not get me wrong. Dubois is very very good. No question about it. But is he one of the best 10 or 15 centers in the NHL right now? I think not. A recent survey ranked him at the 25th spot. It’s very good at his age but Hintz is ranked at 45, so 20 spots under him and probably very close to a mid-level #1 center.
If you look at production. Last year Hintz was producing at a paste of 45 points and 26 goals and Dubois at a paste of 57 points and 21 goals. And Hintz was not getting lots of ice time on the PP and plays on the PK.

In other words, if Dubois is a better player than Hintz, what is the difference? I would say that it’s not a first-round pick + a high-end prospect.
I would say a 2nd or 3rd round pick + a mid-level prospect.

Hintz is that good.

Agree. You inspired me smile

My guess is that not a lot of people will agree with us. A lot of overpayment for Dubois on these boards. Nothing against the young man. I saw him live at the junior level and you could see that he would become a special player.

I am more incline to see a one on one trade between two teams that need to improve a specific position in the line up. The problem for Columbus is that they have no other center to step in if they trade Dubois. Domi is not a #1 center if he is a center.
