NJD u cant say no to this

Created by: CEO
Initial Creation Date: Jan 10, 2021

Team: 2020-21 Vancouver Canucks
Team Explanation
Hutchinson had better numbers than Holtby last year, and he is capable of mentoring Demko. Vatanen replaces Myers, Subban replaces Benn. Both are arguably upgrades. We have enough cap space to pay off Performance bonuses, and we have big offseason next year.

VAN
  1. Hutchinson, Michael
TOR
  1. 2021 4th round pick (VAN)

VAN
  1. Subban, P.K.
  2. Vatanen, Sami
Additional Details:
We get a RD who is signed for half the length of Myers. If we want to be a contender long term, we must not have these overpriced contracts. Vatanen is a slight upgrade from Myers, and he wasn't going to re-sign with NJD anyway.
NJD
  1. Holtby, Braden
  2. Myers, Tyler
  3. Virtanen, Jake
  4. 2021 3rd round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
Crawford has retired, so Holtby mentors blackwood. Virtanen is a speed player who help New Jersey long term, especially if Gusev and Palmeri don't re-sign. Myers is currently a very capable RD, and had MUCH better stats than Subban last year.

VAN is not going to move Holtby after they just signed him, that's not how you do business in the league. Also VAN lacks depth on right wing why would they move Virtanen especially since they lost Toffoli and Leivo.

Leafs decline in less than a heartbeat.

Hutchinson can't be moved (won't be claimed on waivers either). Leafs signed him to a 2 year deal with the sole reason of him being the goalie they will expose to Seattle. They must expose 1 goalie that's under contract for next season to Seattle, and currently they only have Campbell and Hutchinson. Protect Campbell, expose Hutchinson. So unless a goalie under similar contract conditions is coming back to Toronto in the deal, Toronto declines every time.

Waivers? Either Hutchinson or Dell, one has to go

Hutchinson will clear. Dell won't have to. If an NHL roster has fewer than 3 goalies on it, when sending a goalie to the taxi squad that goalie is exempt from waivers.

Hutchinson has already been placed on waivers, so when he clears they can send Dell to the taxi squad and nobody can claim him
