Description

I'll share a bit of thought process in hopes of mitigating the amount a flack I'll get for some of these. Gonna try to give bread explanations, but won't mention anything for teams that it's basically status quo.

Canadian:
*Love Vancouver's young studs and the Schmidt addition. Holtby/Demko very solid duo.
*Calgary edges out Winnipeg and Edmonton with better depth and defense.

East - Top 6 teams are an absolute mess. I feel like any prediction here comes with criticism from the fans of the 2 deserving teams you pick to miss. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if these top 6 finished in any order.

*NYR's goalie tandem gives them a huge boost, plus a ridiculous top 6
*Boston blue line is a bit iffy for me, but otherwise still stacked.
*Caps are stacked, but lack of a reliable 2nd goalie makes me a bit hesitant.
*Love NYI, but someone has to miss.
*Pittsburgh's blue line is pretty gross and they have the same 2nd goalie issue as Washington. Star power could easily make those thing irrelevant though.

Central:

*Good goalie tandem will give Columbus an edge over the teams below them in the condensed schedule. Scoring could be an issue, but should be serviceable enough to take on of the 2 non TB/CAR spots here.
*I think Dallas's injuries set them too far behind to catch up later on. Like Florida over Nashville to take the 4th spot in that scenario.

West:
*chalk with the top 3, could be any order, especially with the top 2, but I like Colorado to edge it out.
*4th seed is completely up for grabs as far as I'm concerned. Going a bit bold with LA, but I think the really long off-season should benefit their vets more than most teams. Young players came on late last year and they looked really good to end the season and even more should shoe up this year.
*I think SJ bounces back to an extent, but doesn't get back to "good" territory
*Minnesota seems to be the popular pick for the 4 seed, but I just don't see it. Kaprisov may be terrific, but the roster is just so meh.

Just a few observations (Purely my own opinion):

-I'd be extremely surprised to see Dallas miss the playoffs, especially being beat out by Florida?
-NYR have definitely improved, but their lack of depth on the left side of their D, and at center, make me feel like they're going to struggle a bit. Next year, they should be reallllly good though.
-It's funny to me that you mentioned Vancouvers goaltending as a solid duo. Do they have the potential to be? Sure...but Holtby and Demko were both league average or below last year, aside from Demko's 4 game playoff run, which was obviously very good.
-You could use the same logic for Anaheim as you have for LA (Though I don't see either being a playoff team, unfortunately).
