Lets wait and see how waivers and roster finishing shake out before passing judgment. The Cap juggling is a major factor in this first roster

If trotz got fired today I wouldn’t care. He went out of his way to praise wahlstrom and bellows like they were destined for top 6 roles this season and they don’t even make the team lol - it’s embarrassing

Probably such a bummer for Bellows and Wahlstrom too

I wish the reporters actually asked trotz why he hates playing forwards under the age of 23.

Yeah same. I just don’t understand it, I thought there was no way Wahlstrom wasn’t making the team either

I’m pretty sure wahlstrom and bellows scored in every scrimmage they played so far. At least one of them should be in the opening lineup.

Why score goals when you can win games 0- -1

Calm down, If a week from now they are still down then complain. The Team has to become cap compliant.

I’ve been saying it all this time that it doesn’t matter if bellows/wahlstrom have great camps, their fates were decided already. I’d love to be proven wrong, but I don’t see it

It’s gotten to the point where it isn’t even justifiable. Wahlstrom and bellows are both clearly ready. Komarov is a liability and johnston shouldn’t even be in the NHL lol

Everyone calm down, I believe the islanders are circumventing the cap. Isles are betting on the fact that Hickey and Ladd will pass through waivers be sent to the AHL. Then the Isles will Place Wahlstrom and Bellows on the Taxi squad. They will call these players up every few times during the week to play while having the other players MDC, Kormarov , Johnston scratched. These players are only on the roster to reach the cap ceiling allowing Boychcuk's LITR to be the full 6 million. might be totally wrong lol

I'd love to see my dream line come to reality. Gotta think the Isles aren't going to be as good as last year with the vets only getting older and Toews off in Colorado. With no cap space left, the only way to improve will be to let the kids play. Run straight into that tall grass until we've fed Wahlstrom enough Pidgeys to win the Calder.

Yeah if they decide to roll with the grinders I do not want them making the playoffs. I don’t want them to double down for the next 5 years. Please play the kids lol

I still don’t believe they will play bellows or wahlstrom. Komarov on waivers isn’t that big of a shock, they need the cap space

Arthur Staple
@StapeAthletic
All #Isles on waivers yesterday cleared.

Komarov on waivers today likely means he's on the opening roster for cap purposes (maximizing LTIR relief) but headed to the taxi squad before Thursday's opener.

#Isles Barry Trotz says Kieffer Bellows has worked his way onto the opening night roster.

Also says Casey Cizikas is OK to play on Thursday in season opener.

He said “in the mix” - he’s not guaranteed to start. Until bellows or wahlstrom get regular minutes my point stands. I’d love to be wrong, but trotz has a history of preferring grinders over young skill players
