I'd take that is a second if I was Washington, but no one is paying for that Oshie contract.

That is a lot of cap for Ottawa to take on and I am not sure why they would.

I love Oshie, but that contract is not appealing at all. It's a big price, and you're getting his declining years. Not a smart move for a rebuilding team at all.

Signed 1 week before becoming an UFA, at age 30, Oshie had a lot of bargaining power, but 8 years, dang. I'm sure WSH expected some relief with a higher cap, and covid-19 threw a wrench into that idea.

I think you're going to have to pay someone to take that contract, and the price is only going to get worse as each year goes by. Yes there will be fewer years left each new year and that lowers the price to unload the cap hit, but his decline will easily offset that. I think the Capitals are stuck with that contract.
