I think Perry gets claimed. Although, he's a player in decline.

If he is claimed, I think it will be to a Canadian team that doesn't wanna deal with him 9 or 10 times.

Thoughts on Calgary going for him? We have some room after waiving Ryan. And I’d be fine with waiving Lucic to get Perry and Nordstrom flanking Bennett on the 4th line, that would be super annoying to play against.

I think it’s certainly worth a shot. If Ryan clears, you have a month where you can flip him between the team and taxi squad. If you were to land Perry, that’s certainly enough time to evaluate whether or not he’s a fit. If he isn’t, then you waive him again.

It would make the team harder to play against, which is something I don’t think you can ever have enough of

That's what I think too. Im a jets fan and I dont wanna see Perry sucker punching any players. He might be in decline, but he still adds some scoring touch and grit

I mean I don’t think it’ll be that difficult. He either waives it and goes to the taxi squad or doesn't and gets scratched, either way he’s not playing and getting paid the same, not really a reason for him not to. We do have the cap to keep him scratched I think, it would just be nice to have him technically be on the taxi squad.

But if you’re Lucic, while not waiving doesn’t guarantee a spot in the lineup, it does make it much harder to keep you out of the lineup in the event of injuries.

Although I guess now that I think about it, I’m not sure if taxi squad players need to pay escrow, which would be a huge bonus and incentive for Lucic to waive.

Escrow aside, there's basically nothing either side can do (Lucic can't use it to guarantee a spot, Calgary can always just fill that spot with the next league min contract in case of an injury), so it's basically whether or not Lucic just decides to be a prick about it lol. If that escrow thing is true (and I think it is, taxi squad players are treated like they're in the AHL) then taxi squad is beneficial for both sides rather than scratching him. If he gets claimed that might actually be better for him, as someone sees a role for him (not that he would of course). Unfortunately a few good games in the playoffs probably has people in the Calgary front office thinking he can provide value all of a sudden, I'd rather see a few guys than Lucic, and use him like Rinaldo and Robinson (brought in for rough, physical games against Edmonton, and now Ottawa probably as well, maybe Montral but they're more physical than confrontational).
