Apparently this comes with a games played bonus between 1-2 million, according to David Pagnotta.

If that’s the case this still isn’t bad, I do think age has caught him up a bit last season but he definitely still a serviceable DFD, and at that deal, dk why people said no

For an un-drafted player, Andy Greene has had a pretty incredible NHL career. He’s made a pile of money along the way and almost won the Cup in 2012. This is probably his last shot.

Very Good Value for a veteran that just doesn't make mistakes.

The bonuses could get ugly for the cap next year. Idk exactly how it works, it’s super complicated

I agree, a solid underrated player. Sure he never had many points (249 pts in 933 games) but he still made a good defensive dman and squeezed out 16 NHL seasons!

Thinking of exactly same. Is this a salarycap hoax somehow? They rather get fooked next season on bonus cushion penalty if they happen to go over the cap?

In my opinion this is a horrible deal, 2 million off next years cap with 3 key RFA's and a major UFA to re-sign? Cross your fingers and hope he gets injured so they don't pay those bonuses out.

This deal is horrible. He's of similar value to Bogosion or Hamonic, but is going to cost more than double in cap space. The games played bonus provision could be a nightmare to deal with next year, as it becomes literal dead cap. When you overpay a player in regular 1 year salary, it's more manageble because some of it can be buried, moved, or placed on LTIR, however the bonus, if hit, will just go on the books and be stuck there in a year where they still have RFAs to sign. This seems like a massive amount of risk for a player who doesn't move the needle.
