Leafs aint ready

Created by: CLR
Team: 2020-21 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 11, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I think we will surprise the leafs with our speed and seize . On thé leafs forums, they have no idea how our D is big and mobile .
Weber (6p4 230lbs)
Edmundson (6p4 227lbs)
Chariot (6p3 235) and mobile .
Romanov is ultra mobile and (6p 210lbs)
Petry ultra mobile also (6p3 210lbs).
Kulak is ultra mobile .

Add Anderson at 6p3 and almost 230, our seize in unmatched + Kk new bully style. They only have Muzzln and Simmonds with seize , and Simmonds is declining. Some of their fan compared Thorthon to Anderson lol.

I think Romanov will open a lot of eyes this season (mobility, physicality, energy, heavy shot)

Leafs PP is what scares me . We have to be discipline because at 5vs5 , I think we will dominate them.

The Leafs have some size as well Matthews 6'3" 220lbs, Tavares 6'1" 215lbs, Nylander 6'3" 202lbs, Thornton 6'4" 220lbs, Reilly 6'1" 219, Muzzin 6'3" 217lbs, Holl 6'4" 210lbs, Bogosian 6'3" 226lbs. So the Leafs aren't without size or speed. This will be a great season to rebuild on the rivalries that were lost over the years.

Amen.

When you play a 41 y.o. on your first line, it's clear you have no depth. Kapanen and Johnson will be missed when the old folks club will get injured...

The Habs are overall a better team than the Leafs, which is hard to admit. The Leafs won't be able to match the physicality the Habs will bring to the game, causing a lot of turn over's from the pressure of the Hab's

no it just means Keefe has the balls to experiment lul. Being unpredictable is good as teams cannot get a good read which can be a huge advantage. Yes it can affect some aspects of the team but not throwing out the same line over and over is a good thing. Look at leafs vs. Boston. Babcock threw the same line out over and over allowing for the bruins to anticipate and prepare for it.

We will see ... I honestly think I underrate the habs because their poor season last year. Hope we get to see a leafs habs playoff series this year. One part of me also want the habs to skate laps around Thornton so keefe will come to his senses, still hope you lose tho (:

The last sentence of your explanation hit the nail on the head. If Habs can keep the games against the leafs mostly at 5v5, I think they are the favorites to win, but if the leafs get a significant amount of PP time...it's over, there ain't no getting around that PP....

Keep in mind, literally every year, the first week or so of the season the refs make a lot of calls...to "set the bar" for the season (remember all the face-off violations at the beginning of last year....) so it wouldn't surprise me at all that the Leafs start hot out of the gate.

I think a lot of people forget that in 18-19 the Habs missed the playoffs by 2 points. Everyone focuses on the team that would have missed the playoffs last season but forget that it was basically the same team from 18-19 and now we improved on that roster. I like what the Leafs have done but am not sure it was enough. Simmonds is a good add for toughness but it meant losing Gauthier. Thorton would be a good add to the 4th line and PK but not at the cost of losing Kapanen. I like the Brodie-Reilly pairing but why sign Bogosian? Why not just play Dermott on the 3rd pair?

Honestly some of the lineup changes are head scratchers but atleast keefe is willing to make changes unlike babcock. I would put hyman on the first line and Robertson on the second . Bogosion was brought in because he’s tough no other reason honestly.

What do you thing was the main reason mtl declined last year. Was it mainly price having an off season or was it on the forwards?

I don’t know Holl that much but I’ll give the benefit of the doubt for Holl + bogosian + Muzzin; they are physical. No way Tavares , Reilly , Matthews and thorthon Are physical now tho. Add Nylander 😂

Honestly, I think it was the team play. It seemed like we were giving up 5 or 6 odd man rushes a game. I think CJ wanted the D to get more involved in the play and as a result there were too many I'll timed pinches or the forwards weren't covering for the D on the cycle or the puck was being turned over in the neutral zone. We ended up top 5 in shots against, odd man rushes against and high danger shots against. You can't win with those kinds of stats. It showed in the game scores too as we ended up losing the most games by 1 goal at something like 21 one goal losses.

a couple injuries, a sophomore slum for KK who we placed as our 3rd C (he had gained 20lbs of muscle in the offseason... but he couldn't skate at his new weight) and finally having Domi not finding his game. A lot of players underperformed. Also, we had no backup... Kinkaid was a swiss cheese meaning we had to overuse Price.
