you would have to bring some cap back... but MTL would absolutely take this trade. Which begs the question - is it a fair trade. Either something is very wrong with Laine OR you overvalue Caufield.

but yeah, we would take it

There's not enough going to Winnipeg here. Caufield is a good prospect but he's proved nothing, whereas Laine is a 50 goal scorer in his prime.

I agree that Caufield could be a target as PART of a Laine trade but not on his own. Winnipeg would command a much bigger return and there would be other teams willing to pay more in my opinion.

It's not really that new. It was constantly happening back when Domi was on the market.

Usually the trade was something like Domi+Caufield+1st for Laine, so you're pretty short on that.

As the offer is now, it's a joke for the Jets. Habs add, and they add a lot.

Laine has never scored 50 Goals. He is about a 35 goal winger 60-70 points.

If you want to trade prospects Caulfield, Guhle, and a 1st rounder.

I stand corrected. He scored 44 goals as a rookie. He's probably capable of scoring 50 though in his prime if he's given 1st line linemates and PP1 time on the dot.

Whatever the case, Caufield and a 3rd don't come anywhere near what a 40+ goalscorer costs, albeit a one-dimensional one.
