I assume Bibeau and Ned didnt look like a NHL goaltender during camp so they claimed the one guy they knew. Ned will be better playing in the AHL instead of riding the pine.

we'll see. Bean said he would prefer to play than be on the practice squad. Maybe the organization takes his preference into account, maybe they dont.

claiming Forsberg makes 0 sense. Canes have 5 goalies under contract and only Helvig won't see at least AHL. even if there are 3 goalies on the roster, Predators may loan a goalie to AHL. This is nonsense unless there is a goalie injured

I dont agree. Its does nothing for Ned of the organization to have him sit on the Taxi squad or on the active roster and not regular playing time. Ned, although unlikely ever to be more than a #3 goalie, is best suited for regular playing time in the AHL. I assume they didnt like what they saw out of Bibeau as an emergency goalie. Forsberg was a little shaky in net his games at the end of the season but, was decent. Based on his age, he probably doesnt have a lot of skill growth left so, wasting him on the bench isnt that big of a deal.

Forsberg is back on waivers. I'm 99% sure Edmonton claims him back and places him on the taxi squad.

FYI he never left Edmonton, he just stopped showing up to Oilers practices. I know what you meant, just thought I'd tell you. Do you think he knew that the claim was just insurance against Ned being on waivers?

If one team claims him but then is returned to waivers and the original team claims him back, its like the claim never happened and the player has effectively passed through waivers. No other team claimed him and he would have passed through waivers without the short lived claimed so, no need to go through it again.
