I honestly wasnt sure bc I’ve seen a lot of hawks fans just trying to get rid of him and I assumed he had been a bit injury prone so thought a swap could be ther

Couple injury problems recently but if he’s fully healthy I’d be happy with him on my blue line. But especially if hawks are retaining someone would definitely give a pick up.

More then just a pick, De Haan with $750k retained is easily worth a 3rd rounder. He's a very solid 2nd line shut down defender. He's had his surgeries, looked great in the post season and ready for this season.

Reason why Hawks fans want to move him is he will not be part of the long term rebuild for the Hawks and we are loaded with defensive prospects that mine as well get chances to play. If a team needs a top 4 defender and is competing, he'd be a great addition.

That part I think is more difficult. My guess is they let the season play out and if they move him it’s at deadline and they hope he’s bounced back from injury and possibly fetch a third. Who knows if there’s a sellers market for a d man at deadline you might squeeze out more. Never have too many defensemen come playoffs.
