I can't see the Wild trading Greenway at the deadline, but if they do, it's going to be for picks/prospects, not Getzlaf

We aren't trading the Captain and team icon for an unproven youngster we'll just have to expose in the expansion draft and a third. And Ryan Miller isn't going anywhere.

Getzalf doesn’t waive, Murray doesn’t trade our captain, and Miller isn’t being moved.

This is just really odd. Why would Anaheim trade Getzlaf? As far as I know he's still a capable top six center, has that changed? And even if he wasn't, I don't see him costing so little. Or for that matter, doesn't he want to retire as a Duck? Doesn't make sense to me.

If you want Greenway, I wouldn't mind a one for one trade for Steel instead.

Getzlaf is a ufa at the end of the year and Minnesota needs a center. If Getzlaf resigns I wouldn't trade him but if he doesn't you might as well trade him and get something out of it.

And cross our fingers Seattle doesn’t take a young team controlled center man in the ED. If the Wild are our of it and the Ducks want Greener for a 1st I’m game for that too.

I agree, in fact I see him being traded and resigned in the summer just to chase a cup and better the ducks for the following season. finishing at the bottom of the league gets a high pick but why not get a piece that is nhl ready. Also MIN wont be in the playoffs so its the wrong team to make a deal with

Eh... whether we're out of it or not is immaterial. There isn't a chance in hell Greenway gets us back a 1st, let alone Anaheim's. I could see them giving up a second for him maybe, but as much as I love Brackett and love the thought of him using that 2nd to great effect, I'd rather try and get Steel back to be honest.

Steel can play in the NHL now, and is another round in the search for a legitimate 2C chamber. With both Khovanov and Khusnutdinov several years away, I like the thought of Steel on the roster now.

Otherwise our expansion plans remain unaffected too much I think. Although I see your point, and would dislike to lose someone like Steel more, it still would essentially be the same outcome if he was taken, really.

Because Minnesota just loves to get older and older.

Welcome to CapFriendly.

Anaheim won't move Ryan Getzlaf at the trade deadline; Bob Murray will let him finish out the year and then decide in the off-season whether he wants to retire or play another year. And if the latter, it will be as a Duck. Anaheim and Murray owe him that.

There isn't a team in the nhl that would pay that for Miller. He's a 40 year old backup who hasn't been in his prime for a decade. Not to mention, St. Louis still hasn't forgotten the absolute bust he was when we traded for him.
