those are horrible moves for the senators. subban isnt worth 9m ottawa has a plethora of guys getting ready to come up why should they go get subban. Ive watched miller plenty as a bruin fan. if hes anything other than 3rd hes a liability. Personally ide rather have tierney. Above average 3c average 2c. but it doesnt hurt to have the depth there.

Having Subban is better than both Gudbranson and Zaitsev. Besides Subban's signing bonus is likely paid so the sens save money.
We have wayy too many centers capable of playing 3rd line. We already have Anisimov who plays the same role. The defence needs a lot of help.
I think with these moves Ottawa is a better team now and next season.

But if you are "upgrading the defense" why would you trade for subban and miller. Gudbranson isnt great but they have some players they could move for RD they also have brannstrom and jaros who might step up this year.

I think they are achievable upgraded. We have a log jam at defence so we need to give up players as well.

Depends on who of Jaros and Zub win the roster spot for 3RD. Jaros could very well. Brannstrom will likey start in the AHL and get called up I would imagine.

This is going to be a weird year with no AHL for some guys to go to. Ide say Brown wins 3rd this year. but who knows. I could see brannstrom playing real minutes this year.

I like the idea of improving the defence but I dont think that either of those players really do that.

At this point, especially with that cap hit, I wouldn't touch Subban unless Jersey was the one one paying you to take him. Cap space is even more valuable now that the cap is flat and Subban had a terrible year with the Devils last year. The only thing that might balance that trade out a bit is dropping Zaitsev's contract. Regardless I can't see them giving up a 2nd for Subban or trading Guddy at all this year.

Don't think Miller carries the same value as Tierney either. He's playing on Buffalo's third pairing and I doubt he'd garner a 2nd round pick in a trade anymore whereas TIerney is likely worth a 2nd+ a little more.
