He's a solid defensive forward but 3.1x3 is a lot.

Odd timing for re-signing him. He should have gotten the "C" instead of Spurgeon. Not sure if I like the the contract or not for them team.

I like the contract for Foligno. He's the heart and soul guy that every team needs, glad to se him get rewarded with some term for that.

I think 2 years would’ve been a tad better. But overall still solid

Solid defensive player, but still a bit much.

Could end up being a risky contract.

Why??

They have so many wingers. I just don't see the logic here. They already had to move on from 2 this summer. They have kaprizov coming in.

I just don't get the reason. Where do they expect this guy to be in the line up in 2 years let alone 3-4?

With Parise, Kaprizov, Fiala and Zuccarello signed for term there is your top 2 lines of wingers. Add in Greenway. For middle six

Just seems like a really stupid way to lock up cap this far in advance

Lol. Foligno is probably the most underrated guy in the league. He’d make more on the open market. Highly important player to the wild and a great deal imo.

Well with that line of thinking. The Willd will be stuck in mediocreville with mediocre players and up against the cap. Still going to be eating that Parise/Suter contract for quite a while. Bleak future the next 4 years for Wild fans. Better hope that new GM can draft well picking from 10-15 range next summer and hope to get lucky in the draft lottery the proceeding years after.

33 year old Cam Talbot to the rescue!

Yup my line of thinking. Valuable cap space wasted all around and they just keep on eating up that 81.5 flat cap. Solid NHLer he is but this contract is meh.

I agree 100 percent. Just keep on eating away on that flat 81.5 million cap. Going to be at the bottom or the standings with the 33 year Cam Talbot to the savior! not... At least they have a plan to try and start picking higher up in the Draft in the off season wink

To expand on my last post, its not that the contract is bad in a vaccuum, its that this team building makes no sense. They seem to have invested in way too many wingers both short and long term and you don't win from the wing. Their top 6 C depth is questionable, Rossi seems like a good pick, but you can't depend on him. They seem to have planned to invest on a lot of middle 6 C's and good wingers, which is just not a recipe for success. Mix that with investing in a D corps which is good, but about 5-8 years older as a core to their forward core AND no plan for goalie long term, it just makes no sense. There seems to be a complete lack of overarching plan.
