If the panthers are “wanting to get younger on the blue line” then none of these trades make sense.

Oilers can’t afford him, especially with Nuge/Yam and others expiring soon.

Carolina needs the cash for Hamilton and Svechnikov extensions.

Wings, personally I don’t hate Yandle, but that contract is rough. I’d do it for Frans and a d-man perhaps

hi, but Staal & Russell have just 1 year left on their contract and Yandle still 3 - Panthers can use the saved money for younger player from next season onwards

Yandle doesn't fit Detroit's rebuild. The only landing spots that make sense for him, are teams that have a chance to compete NOW and even then, need a 1-1 salary swap, as taking on his salary will be a deal breaker for most teams.

Russell has an extension for next year, 1x$1.5M

Oilers decline, lots of depth on LHD and trending younger.

I honestly wouldn't mind him if Holland could make the cap work and Florida retained

Why can't people on here seem to realize that Yandle isn't a negative value guy?

Florida has stated that he "isn't part of their future plans" - basically saying they want to get younger and cheaper. He's still a 50 point d-man that will be on 95% of teams top PP units. He's not gonna just be dumped.

He'll likely get flipped for a prospect that had a lot of hype and hasn't worked out yet (could use a change of scenery) and a pick. But Florida likely won't have to retain or add to move him.

          Geez this site is nuts.

Perhaps it’s the fact that he makes over $6M for this season and the next 2 with a NMC. I think you may need to realize that with the expansion draft coming up and so many teams close to or at the cap, teams won’t be lining for a disgruntled D with a NMC unless they can dump salary back to FLA.

It's only $6.35M against the cap. Real money he's only $13.2M over the next 3 seasons, or an average of $4.4M per season. For a 50 point guy, that adds a lot of value.

& in case you didn't watch the last expansion draft, teams can make side deals to protect extra skaters. It wouldn't really be that big of an issue.

Say klef never returns to form or "retires" and Barrie doesn't meet expectations. There's the cap room right there for the next few years for a guy who will play heavy minutes top pp and probably get 40-60 every year

Only $6M in cap, you say that like it’s nothing. Why trade real assets for the headache of having to make additional side deals?
