It's not confirmed. At this point, he probably just has minor symptoms and has to turn a Covid test.
Get used to this though.

This, no need to overreact, even if the players show up with sniffles or a cough they have to get tested and go home.

I see what you did there. Ha!

This will be the NHL this year. On any given night anyone could suddenly be pulled from the lineup because they have a runny nose or even had a close contact with someone that had a positive test. Hopefully he doesn't actually have it and this is just precautionary.

Uhhh guys they are tested daily already - so if it is for protocols - it is a pretty good chance there was a positive already

I'm not sure if you missed or didn't listen to Chevy's conference, but they have a CPRA. Here's an explanation:

"Nik Ehlers is in COVID-Protocal Related Absence (CPRA).

As Kevin Cheveldayoff just explained, this could be triggered by symptoms as minor as sniffling. Leads to a Covid test and ensuing protocol. "

So no, what you're saying isn't correct, just because he's absent from practice doesn't mean he's positive. How it works is they go in, if they have any symptoms, they get tested and go home. They didn't rule him out for tomorrow, so they're likely waiting for a test result.

Didn't listen to anything but the league Covid protocols rules are as follows:

During the season, players will undergo daily temperature checks, and they will self-administer them not more than two hours before entering their club’s facilities. Players and other club personnel will be tested daily during training camp and for the first four weeks of the regular season. After that, the league will reevaluate to see whether clubs should test every other day.

You also can't forget that he could have had a fine temperature, but then got to the rink and had a cough or sniffles and then he would have been tested at that point. So you can't immediately point to him having covid. If that was the case, the entire team would not have practiced today as he was in close contact with them. You can't look at one part of the picture, but ignore the other.
