So right before we need to make roster decisions Artturi Lehkonen, Paul Byron, and Jake Evans are playing their best games of the season.

Honestly, if we were fully healthy right now, Joel Armia might be the guy on the outside looking in. (With the fact that he isn’t as good defensively as the previous mentioned players, and he can only play RW) If Bergevin needed to trade anyone to get cap space, I’d probably be in favour of him right now, although that may be a bit difficult, considering the fact that he’s a rental and he currently has COVID.

And Mete played good last night, it’s so hard to predict the Habs lineup without injuries, i mean apart from still having the Tatar line and the Suzuki line together everything else can be switched around

The D is going to be really interesting when Chiarot gets back (assuming no one gets injured before that). Who do you scratch? Mete’s been playing well, but Kulak is great when with Petry, and Edmundson hasn’t been bad either (even with Weber not being a good fit).

Yeah, I mean You’d think Romanov, Petry, Weber, and Edmundson are locks so depending on if you go
Edmundson-Weber or Edmundson-Petry everything changes too, and with forward you have 10 guaranteed locks ( Suzuki, Drouin, Anderson, Tatar, Gallagher, Danault, Toffoli, Kk, Perry, Staal ) and I’d don’t know who I’d play between Byron, Evans, Lehkonen and Armia

So Laval is going with 7 D and 11 forwards tonight, with Dauphin and Ouellet returning to the lineup. Not great news for Cam Hillis. Especially considering he’s being beaten out by 3 players on AHL contracts (Harvey-Pinard, Veilleux, Paquette-Bisson) a loaned player (Brisebois) and Myšák who doesn’t have any contract at all. It’s been a real rough year for him, especially considering he’s actually supposed to be playing pro hockey this year, unlike Myšák, Guhle, Fairbrother, and LeGuerrier.

I guess that also means that Myšák, Weal, Ylönen, Belzile, and Vejdemo are still out with injuries.

Since Dominique Ducharme took over :
Tatar : 3.7 P/60
Gallagher : 3.39 P/60
Toffoli : 2.89 P/60
Perry : 2.59 P/60
Danault : 2.55 P/60
Kotkaniemi : 2.02 P/60
Drouin : 2.02 P/60
Byron : 1.94 P/60
Petry : 1.91 P/60
Evans : 1.76 P/60

Is it safe to assume that Danault and Tatar are the players who have benefited the most from the coaching change?

Looks like Weal is at least good to go tonight now.

It was fine. You can’t win them all, and the habs were just unlucky last night.

So now the question is, who do you take out of the lineup to put Staal in today? All 3 of Evans, Byron, and Lehkonen have played well. If we scratch Evans or Byron, we can accrue some extra cap space. If Evans does end up in the lineup, that probably means Suzuki is playing the wing. But I’d probably expect the same lineup but with Staal slotting in for Evans.

have we ever considered putting KK at wing? It seems Suzuki is taking a lot of big faceoffs and the coaches like him in the middle. Last night, KK was one of the only habs whose first instinct upon entering the o zone was to dump and chase. I would like to see that happen as often as possible.

As for who we scratch, I don't think we set it in stone, but rotate it based on performance and experience and energy as the playoffs get closer

I think we just rotate who we play and if Evans plays we move Kk/Suzuki to the wing

The reason Suzuki would be playing the wing is because Kotkaniemi has improved a lot at faceoffs, while Suzuki is still awful. Suzuki’s at 44% on the season, while KK’s at 49%. Plus KK’s improved as the season’s gone on, and he’s 54% since the start of March.

Olofsson is back from injury for Laval tonight. He’ll help replace Guillaume Brisebois who was called up by the Canucks on Friday.
