So Artturi Lehkonen scored the game winning goal on my birthday back on June 24th, which is the high point in all of my years of watching hockey. Since then:

- We lose 3 games in a row.
- Tampa Bay wins the cup.
- Shea Weber is forced to end his career due to injury.
- We draft Mailloux.
- Phillip Danault signs in LA.
- Corey Perry signs in Tampa Bay.

Since the end of the semi-finals everything to do with Montréal has been a little bit of good mixed in with a boatload of pain.

Well there goes that option. I guess Tyler Bozak is the best option then? Which is far from ideal.
Unless there's other centres available in a trade that I don't know about. (Who are making less than Kuznetsov and Eichel)

Edit: And people laughed at me when I suggested Guhle + a 1st for Dvorak.

Is it weird that I would actually do Dvorak for Romanov? There's better ways to do the trade, but Romanov is expendable with all of our prospects right now. I'm not even convinced Romanov is on our 3rd pair to start the season

Straight up it might be fine, but my emotional attachment hates it, and the habs aren't exactly overflowing with NHL D.

I know he's 21, but at the moment, Romanov isn't a top 6 defensemen on Montreal. I'd still play Kulak over him. Considering Bergevin said he was on the market for an OFD, I don't know how much longer Romanov will be here for

I guess that's your opinion, but Analytically, Kulak is heads and shoulders better. Romanov plays a physical game, but we just signed Savard to play that role. With Norlinder and Guhle coming here in the next few years, it allows us to move Romanov for something we need (a center). Of course that doesn't mean we should just trade him, but it's an option we have.

Kulak has played pro in NA since 2013, it was Romanov's 1st season. Obviously Kulak would be a tad better but I bet Romanov will quickly pass him.

Wideman is also an option for the 2nd unit QB, and Drouin could move down low, and Perreault replaces Armia as the bumper. (More realistically Anderson would likely play ahead of Armia as the bumper, but I don’t think that would be the right decision.)

In the extremely unlikely event that Poehling or Norlinder make the team, Norlinder would likely play PP QB on the 2nd unit, and Poehling would get PK time.



*Petry was behind Romanov & Merrill in the PK lineup at the end of the playoffs. We’ll see if that was just a result of his injury or a permanent thing.

-Apparently knows French well enough to hold a conversation.
-His favorite defenseman is Cale Makar
-From the Canadiens, his favorites are Alexander Romanov and Shea Weber.
-One of his closest friends is Fyodor Svechkov, drafted #19 overall by the Predators in this year's draft. Both played for Togliatti in the VHL/MHL.

I was a fan of Kostenko, i think I had him in the 80’s, it was a great pick and he knows French which makes him a fan favourite and untouchable automatically 😉

Or Byron is out for 5 months which would explain Perreault
