You gotta add at least a 1st round pick in that trade along with Monahan. Maybe a guy like Bennett as well

I personally think Monahan is better the Dubois, but the age difference

Really? Dubois for Monahan is basically a wash, difference is age and that's not worth a 1st++

This trade is basically just moving deck chairs, if Calgary wants Dubois for center depth trading Monahan away in the process is counterproductive

"DUBOIS WANTS TO BE TRADED ASAP". It's fair trade. But CBJ isn't trading a player just because he wants to be traded. Trade him and then he have a lineup at the GM door every time a player is upset and then he demands to be traded too.

Monahan for Dubois is a perceived wash but Calgary would win that one for one. Dubois lindholm and backlund would be nice.

You know my thoughts on Monahan though. Nothing against the guy but he does not play that complete game you need from a 1c.

Don't get me wrong, I would absolutely love Dubois on the team, I just don't think the answer is moving Monahan +++. Rarely do you ever see hockey trades like that now, if Dubois is moved it is much more likely to be for something like Schenn or ROR to STL

I agree with that. But teams just don’t seem to make those bad trades anymore. Look what jarmo got for Anderson. Makes the pld monogram swap look more likely. What other pieces could you see going over?

Can’t argue with that reasoning. Gotta think they keep him this year provided that they are competetive and he isn’t a disruption.

I disagree with this, selling for futures is way more common then legitimate hockey trades now-a-days. As for what Calgary would be trading it would probably have to include at least one of Ryan/Bennett/Mange for cap reasons, then either a very good prospect + a 1st or two 1sts. IDK though, hard to say

First and a prospect seems a bit light to me. Maybe with mangiapane it’s a bit better but they will be looking for a servicable top 6 centre. Non of those options are that. Just my opinion though. Flames wouldn’t swap monohan for pld anyway. Just me I guess lol.

Oh no I wasn't saying just a 1st and prospect. The issue is there aren't a lot of examples of young top 6 centers being traded

The Jordan Staal traded could be a decent example as well
