no idea, he was in a grey jersey this morning him and Galchenyuk. What im guessing is they want that 3rd line to be a checking line and they really like that 4th line. And he got outplayed by the entire top 6. They said at the start he was having a strong camp, then the coach said Norris is our best center

I didn't see where Smith said Norris was the best centre. I only read that he said he was really impressed with Norris speed, especially when compared to the rest of the centres.

He said he was the best C at getting up and down the ice and making things happen. Also even if he didn't explicitly say the was the "best centre", but he's clearly saying it with his actions. He's putting a rookie in the number one C spot, that should tell you everything you need to know.

I have no clue what the deal is. DJ specifically mentioned multiple times that White looked great, but now he's suddenly outside of the top 12 entirely. I'm sure the bottom six will see a lot of rotation this season, but there's absolutely no reason for Colin White not to be a regular fixture in the top 9. He's easily a top 6 player on this team in terms of ability.

The only thing that makes sense is if he's significant piece of trade negotiations going on behind the scenes, and he's out for precautionary reasons. Though I can't imagine that the Sens would be far enough into trade negotiations that they would be holding a player out, without anyone hearing anything about it.

No, I don't make assumptions like that, that just isn't what intelligent people do. If you want to create comments they never made, that's your right, and it's my right to realize your comments have no base in fact.

Here's your opinion, paraphrased by me,

a rookie with 3 NHL games is the best centre on the Ottawa Senators

He’s average at everything, doesn’t have a go to skill

I think I’m Josh Norris’ biggest supporter. I think he looked good in the 3 games he played. Batherson and Tkachuk should create a lot of goal scoring opportunities for him.

I love the guy, mostly because of his speed. I think he's going to be really good, but not great. People get bogged down in ambiguous semantics. I made a chart of "experts" comments, and their translation to reality, back in the 90's, but I've misplaced it over the years. Essentially it was like,

He's a good one - should be able to play 200 NHL games
He'll be special - defined roll player
Can't miss - will play at least one NHL game

I don't remember, off the top of my head, all the different comments the experts routinely make, but it's mostly hype. Of course you'll get the odd brain dead response that this means no rookie is really any good, which is why they don't understand that they can't all be good.

You're just being deliberately obtuse.

Don't agree with that at all. He's an above average skater, and he's one of the better defensive players on the team. He's not a go to offensive weapon but he's a strong complimentary piece in the middle of the lineup.

I don't understand how you can be spot on with some of your comments, and then use assumptions to validate other comments. You remind me of a guy I use to work with, a very bright guy, who would make the occasional assumption because it sounded accurate to him, but he would state it as fact and not as an assumption. We had a great time the day he told us the Ottawa Rough Riders moved to Saskatchewan. It made sense to him because why would a league have two teams with the same name (maybe he didn't notice the space), so he had to be right.

There was a discussion a while back about Brannstrom's preferred playing side, until it was finally verified by an actual Brannstrom quote.
You can't say he prefers the right side just because he plays the right side, you have to wait for him to say it.
There's a difference between needing to play the offside, be willing to play the offside, and preferring to play the offside. Don't assume.

No, I'm clearly not obtuse.
