I was going to make the 2021 1st round pick (MTL) conditional: If KK PPG/AVG is .50 at the end of the season then the 2021 1st round pick (MTL) becomes a 2021 2nd round pick (MTL).

Montreal is the one place that has to pay the most. Jarmo kekaleinen isn’t going to give PLD what he wants without a big win

Would this trade mean Columbus is partial rebuilding/retooling and going for an under 26 team?

Definitely a retool. I still don’t think they should trade PLD but it may be too late

The direction would be nice tho. Texier, Foudy, Bemstrom, Marchenko, Kotkaniemi, Caufield, Bjorkstrand etc

And maybe a top 10 pick this year too. It’s just crazy because CBJ really improved this off-season by adding domi. They were in on hall and Hoffman too. I didnt expect this

I could see CBJ accepting that.
No conditions on the 1st.
Either way if a team wants him they are gonna have to pay. 4 years of control goes a long way to not doing anything.

They reached according to some of the industry boards. Their own internal board had him as a top 10 player in the whole draft and they were picking at 21.

I get why people see it as a reach, but I don't think it would've been wise for CBJ to assume they were the only team who had a first-round grade on a guy who they thought was one of the 10 best players in the draft.
