What's the plan for next year? You save $6.8 by not resigning Bellemare/Saad, plus someone gets lost in expansion, but raises (Landeskog, Makar, Timmins (Which probably isn't that bad if you give him Dunn-type money on a short term), and Grubby) are going to put you into Tampa territory.

And...? The last time I checked, they were under the salary cap...albeit with some magic wand crap in Kucherov's contract. Top teams are always up near the cap. Just look at Tampa, Vegas, and Philly.

They'll give Makar a decent raise on a bridge deal or sign him long term for $8-9 million. Landy wants a long term deal and has stated it publicly, so I'd put him in around $7 million. Grubby and Timmins' deals both depend on the years they have, so can't worry about that yet. And with Seattle, you're almost guaranteed to lose $2-3 million, so we'll have the space.

Avs are not destorying what they built, roster depth and cap wise for 18 months of Barkov bc they cant afford to keep him

Avs can not trade for Barkov or PLD, there is no logic behind it at all

no they wont....once they resign Makar Landy and Grubauer and lose 3m in Compher Donskoi or Graves in expansion, they have little to nothing left of cap space.
They would have to move out some serious other contracts to make a Barkov work

Just an example to show how tight it is even next season. If they want to add 5m, they will have to send out 5m. Its pretty difficult

In re-reading my post, it clearly sounds like I'm advocating for the Barkov trade, which was not my intent haha. I was just trying to say they'll have the space to give Makar/Landy/Grubby/Timmins the raises. This is just like the PLD trade we've been talking about, in that it'll screw them over for the future.

they are fun ideas and looks good on paper but we both agree it doesn't more harm than good
