Montreal and Calgary are mentioned, but there’s no chance they beat Winnipeg’s offer. Sounds like PLD will be traded before the Jackets play tomorrow night.

The Montreal Canadiens also remain in the mix on Pierre-Luc Dubois. Winnipeg, Anaheim, Montreal it would appear at this juncture.

I don’t believe Anaheim, Minnesota, Ottawa, Buffalo, Detroit or Arizona have the pieces to get it done. That means Montreal, Winnipeg, Calgary, Rangers, Washington and Philadelphia are in.
Montreal could use Suzuki, Winnipeg is believed to be in by Dreger by I don’t see what they’d offer. Calgary has Monahan, Rangers have Strome and Kakko, Washington has Kuznetsov, Philadelphia has Hayes/Frost.
I don’t see Washington as a fit so I’d rule them out. Just age demographic, stuff like that. I don’t see Columbus touching Vrana for Dubois so I just can’t see it. Down to 5. Maybe Winnipeg could use Ehlers or Laine? I don’t think they have the pieces to swing it as Columbus probably wants a center. Dreger says there in but I don’t see it. The rangers would have to make Kakko available. Columbus probably wants a center though. I’d say the Rangers would probably be at the mercy of another teams best offer and than Columbus could swing back to a Kakko package (if he’d be available). Morgan Frost would be available but isn’t as enticing as others. Again, they’d be at the mercy of another offer. I think Monahan for Dubois is a great fit. I think Suzuki is the best fit for Columbus. I’d rank the teams from most to least likely to get him as 1. Montreal, 2. Calgary, 3. Rangers, 4. Philadelphia. Rangers are 3 as I’m not sure about Kakko. If Kakko is available, probably #2, if not, there not in the race. I’d rank the potential main pieces 1. Suzuki, 2. Kakko, 3. Monahan, 4. Kotkaniemi, 5. Frost. Based on that I think you can rule out Philly as one of Suzuki and KK will be in the picture. If Suzuki is available, he goes to Montreal, if not you talk to NYR about Kakko, if that doesn’t work, Calgary for Monahan and of none of the fits, KK. Just my take on it. Fingers crossed for Dubois to Calgary with Monahan as a centrepiece

Our beat writer has been insinuating that Barkov is someone to keep an eye on for us for the past year or two. He doesn't say stuff like that unless he know something. Then again, he is the former Panthers beat writer. Also this. Keep in mind Paul (acquired Fiala) and PJ (who ran our draft and took Boldy and Beckman last year) Fenton are now in the Panthers front office, so there's that.
