If you get PLD this is a 2nd round team minimum imo

To me, this would be enough value going back to CBJ -- top 4 RHD in his prime, a young middle-6 center with upside, a very good center prospect, and a PIT 1st (which could turn into a lottery pick). Just depends if CBJ are interested in those pieces, but I think it is a fair offer.

edit: apparently Boldy is a W and not a C

That 2nd line is still suspect atm though -- but if Rossi is ready to play top 6 in the NHL, then watch out!

I mean, Boldy and Rossi as your top 2 centers isn't too bad either -- with a little patience, they have the pieces for a very solid top 6.

It's a lot to give... probably too much... I think I'd do it. Kaprizov needs a competent center and PLD has point per game upside. Wish PLD were a right shot but beggars can't be choosers.

Soucy. He played there last year and looked solid. Otherwise try to get Savard from Columbus as well to buy time for Addison to develop.

Soucy as a stop-gap until Addison is ready would be most likely. Otherwise someone signed to a short term contract for the same purpose.

Problem is...

Boldy is a winger, CapFriendly has him listed wrong.

It's a pretty nice package. I wouldn't be ecstatic with giving all of that up but we need a 1C so badly that I'd be willing to overpay for him.

Too much for PLD. Rossi + 1st + whatever rental CBJ wants (cap offset mostly) is the max I'd go.

My only real concern about this though is shipping off Boldy too. I'd rather keep him for our own future top six needs so we only really need one more scoring winger for our top two lines and to bump Parise down. Otherwise we'll need two post trade.

Could this deal still work if we swapped Boldy for Beckman? After all, Beckman's a pretty good prospect in his own right.

Possibly but I have to think Columbus would want either Boldy or Rossi. I'd rather not trade either of them but if we want him we're going to have to give to get

both prospects are going to be good but we have to give one up to get a talented center. I guess my only concern should be is if he would resign if he wants a big market

Assuming that quote is true. Friedman wrote something interesting in his 31 thoughts that in a way kind of discredits that "bigger stage" quote:

"3. Hopefully, there’s eventual clarity on why Dubois wanted the change of scenery. He bought a place in Columbus last season. There’s something we’re not seeing."

I don't know why he'd buy a home there if he wanted to play on a bigger stage. Maybe you can chalk it up to being young and stupid, but it's interesting nonetheless.

Boldy isn't a center. They tried him there last year at BU and it was a mess. It would have to be Rossi. Or Khovanov +

Yeah, I've mentioned a Eriksson-Ek, Khovanov, Beckman plus a 1st for PLD before. But that was as part of a three way trade where Winnipeg was involved. Where the Jets got Dumba and CBJ got Laine or Ehlers. So...

Without the Jets, I would hope it would be enough but would have to begrudgingly accept that it would probably cost Boldy instead of Beckman.

It wasn't a mess. He was playing with McLaughlin and McBain, who aren't exactly offensive players. He passed the eye test at center, he looked good, his linemates just weren't able to generate many points. He's still better at winger, and will likely be a winger moving forward, but it wasn't as bad as the score sheet looked.

Rossi + the earlier of the 2 2020 1sts + Bonino or Johansson (for salary, plus CBJ could flip them at the deadline for something else) is the most I'd go too. PLD is good, but not so good that mortgaging your future in the hope he's a legit 1C makes sense imo.
