This deal is bad for Minnesota. nope. Joel Eriksson ek was untouchable this summer, & nope , take him out.

Marco Rossi, matt dumba, & 2021 1st is already alot t. You don't overpay for this player. You wait for Alexander Barkov

Rossi + the earlier of the 2 2020 1sts + Bonino or Johansson (for salary, plus CBJ could flip them at the deadline for something else) is the most I'd go too. PLD is good, but not so good that mortgaging your future in the hope he's a legit 1C makes sense imo.

are we saying rossi because cbj would want him over boldy?? or you vue boldy higher the rossi??

Assuming that quote is true. Friedman wrote something interesting in his 31 thoughts that in a way kind of discredits that "bigger stage" quote:

"3. Hopefully, there’s eventual clarity on why Dubois wanted the change of scenery. He bought a place in Columbus last season. There’s something we’re not seeing."

I don't know why he'd buy a home there if he wanted to play on a bigger stage. Maybe you can chalk it up to being young and stupid, but it's interesting nonetheless.

I saw that and the only thing I can think of is he sees an opportunity to go back home to MTL. I’d like to know who else Brisson represents because he could have the DL on what teams would spend to bring him in.

Rossi is a natural center and Boldy isn't is more what I look at for this trade. MN is getting a center so CBJ will be needing a center or high center prospect back. Rossi has the higher ceiling but Boldy has the higher floor.

The risk is all on CBJ for that trade. Unless MN offers up Fiala or Kaprizov they don't have anything else that really moves the needle for CBJ. Add in Bonino to give CBJ a center for this year to cover some of the loss of PLD.

I think CBJ would get Danualt as a UFA in the offseason if they trade PLD.

So it sounds like PLD wants to go to his childhood team, the Canadians. So seeing that there is no way I give up much for him. Wild could aquire him just to have him leave in 2 years.

I'm now back on the Barkov train.

Maybe. Could be that he doesn't like Torts or his teammates, maybe he doesn't like the organization, maybe he doesn't like the plan of the team, who knows.

I'm guessing it's a bunch of little things that just added up and then him not getting a big contract was the straw that broke the camel's back.

I imagine they'd want a younger center coming back, but it could be Rossi or Boldy. Both have the same chance of being a top 6 NHLer in my book.

Rumors are that he has wanted out since last season so I think the contract has little bit do with it. Something is up in Columbus, good players don't want to stay. He is young and right now I have this picture in my head that he is a young home sick kid, but given the life of a NHL hockey player and what it takes to get there, what is home? They are always on the road. So my next thought is he wants the attention given to elite players and though he isn't elite at the moment he probably walks around Columbus mostly unknown. If he were in a Canadian market he would get mauled. After he gets his fame I'm sure he will come to regret it.

Thing is, PLD fought for the short term deal so I don’t think the contract is the problem. Something is up there but I have no idea if they want to keep the train rolling or they want to start over.

I’m a little late to this party, but if this is the price for PLD...it’s a hard pass for me!
If Dumba has to be part of the deal, I would offer Dumba and Rossi OR Boldy...OR some other package of prospect/s and pick/s. I would only add if Savard was part of the return.
If Dumba is not part of the deal, I would offer Rossi and a 1st, or Ek, a 1st and Khovanov and/or Beckman.

If none of these packages are enough, I would happily walk away.
