Operation Save Patrick Kane

Created by: willdog37
Team: 2020-21 Los Angeles Kings
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 15, 2021
Published: Jan. 15, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The trade is just a general outline. More would need to be added for sure. But LA could take advantage of having all of their top prospects on ELCs for the next few years. Obviously this trade would also depend on whether they are competitive this season, since future draft picks would be on the table.

More? A high lottery pick + a future top 6 center is a pretty good return.

Certainly wont get you Kane. A. They arent taking Brown, B. This is Kane, this will take multiple firsts and prospects, not something that will be a lottery (and could be low since you're adding Kane), and a second. Vilardi is nice, but they will want much more

So, lemme get this straight:
In your mind operation save Kane would be to send him to the kings?! I’m on board with the whole operation, I agree #FreeKaner, just not to the kings.

That's why I said it's a start and not the final package. I personally think it would take another first and blue-chip prospect at least. More wanted to float the idea out there and see what people thought of the fit in LA

I just figured it was the best fit given the cap crunch in the league right now with the flat cap. It's hard to find a team that would be able to take on a $10 million contract. It may not be this year, but the Kings will be competitive soon. So many great prospects on ELCs.

Well cap wise your right, but a contender would make more sense. But I understand flat cap, contenders=no cap.

I think Montreal could theoretically work if they show they are for real this year. But it would push them right up against the cap and they would have to sacrifice a lot of depth to make it work. Also would take them out of the PLD sweepstakes

By the time the Kings are a contender after the prospects have developed, Kane will be a UFA and old. Kings decline. They already said they aren't trading their future away like they did before.

Kane is an elite player, Brown is not what he used to be and would be seen as more of a cap dump now. You don't just get a superstar like Kane for that deal.

Brown is still a 40 point RW on a horrible team. That's basically Turcotte, Owen Power, and a 40 point RW veteran perfect for mentoring a rebuilding team. What kind of package do you expect Kane to bring back?

Kane is very much based on pedigree for trades. Odds are, Blackhawks sell high, and they don't want older players who put up points, they want young guys for the future, they already have older mentor players. Based on pedigree alone, you are seeing the Hawks asking for Vilardi and Two firsts in my opinion. Remember, that becomes a lower pick in the first because Kane probably gets them rolling for sure.
