It's been 2 games. He hasn't been good and needs to be better, yes. But the team hasn't helped out much in front of him. Plus Freddy's always been a slow starter. Moving a top 10-13 goalie in the league for a d-man that doesn't even crack their top 6 only makes the team worse.

Relax. 54 games left still.

It’s 2 games in pal. Having a tandom of Grub/Anderson would go miles in a shortened season

But 4 years of Freddie bring 0-8 in series clinching games with a 880 sv% and a gaa over 3

He’ not an upgrade over grubauer, he’s an older more expensive lateral move. Why do the avs want a 5m under performing back up?

He probably is an upgrade over Grubaer tbh. He definitely has been better in the regular season and while he hasn’t been “clutch” in the playoffs his team is definitely responsible for some of that. Anderson is worth way more than Cole, a guy who will rotate in and out of Avs lineup. This is a clear W. I’m not a fan of either team and even I can see it

Freddie isn’t a clear upgrade though, so Freddie is only as good as the team in front of him? So perhaps he’s not actually a very good goalie if that’s the case. It’s 4 years of failure of him, this isn’t an isolated thing, he’s not a cup contending goalie you can trust

And with goalie aging curves based on historical data he’s at age Of decline. Easy pass as he’s not worth the risk especially since he hasn’t done what grubi has done in both his tests with the avs...win playoff rounds

There us a reason why leaf fans have wanted to get rid of him so badly all offseason. It’s bc exactly this

If you threw Freddy on Avs man the narrative would be so different. Grubs is an average goalie. Freddy is better than that. And plus no one is saying they’d have to get rid of Grubaer. They’d simply have both, and they would split games which is especially helpful during a back to back. If you think grubs is better than Freddy whatever. You’re wrong, but whatever. But there is absolutely no denying that he’s a clear upgrade over your backup goalie and definitely worth more than cole. Leafs fans overreact on this site. I wouldn’t trust their opinion 90% of the time

Avs goaltending is not a problem, that’s the point here,

It’s not a problem, but if you can upgrade it for that price only a fool would say no

even anderson would have had a good game last night with the avs. why on earth would you ever base your assessment of a goalie on the first 2 games of the season. a lot of goalies pick up steam as the season goes on.

right now i think the avs would pass. they'd have to see if grubauer can stay healthy and fancouz plays well. if the avs wanted to make the trade i can't really argue the value, that's a good deal for the avs.

The Avs should, and would, pass on Anderson. He's no upgrade over the current tandem.

@coga16 @mhockey91

If this trade came across sakics desk he would for sure pull the trigger... you have a platoon 6th dman worth 4.25 mill for a goalie who plays 60 games a year being hung out to dry every night by his team..

If toronto does this trade they have given up for the season so it's probably not an issue..

Colorados goaltending isnt an issue if they are healthy, what would it hurt if going into the deadline you stick Andersen up in the pressbox just in case when you still have toews, graves, girard, EJ, timmins, byram, makar, and gilbert.

Exactly my point! It’s not like Colorado needs to do this trade, but it’s a very cheap goaltender upgrade. We saw what happened last year with their goalie injuries. Never hurts to have extra insurance

Disagree it sends the wrong message that you don’t trust your current goalies abilities, they got injured not under preform, if you bring in a goalie lurking as a healthy scratch for no reason you are risking a serious jeopardy of creating locker room tenting.

Why rail road your locker room bc you think nibbling around the edges just in case.

Unless there is an injury there is legit no reason for such a move

So you don’t wanna trade Cole for Freddy Andersson yet Sakic trades Cole for a clear downgrade?

Its not what avs are giving up, its bringing in a goalie for no reason and sending the wrong message to your goalies that have performed for you as well as complicate the matters of getting the answers on Grubauer, you dont do that by brining in a goalie mid season if hes healthy and hes performing. NO reason for it
