Neal, Haas - non roster

The Leafs will get some cap flexibility, if they move 800k of Dell and 175k of burried Engvall. They can have Hutchinson in the taxi squad and Grosenick is a solid AHL starter/ 1A. Nygard can take Engvall's spot in the minors/taxi squad. As an extra, the Leafs get a 3rd round pick (Dell is better than Grosenick, Engvall has some potential).

Nope. Can't do it.

Not to say that the trade is not fair. (It is fine value). It is just that the Leafs cannot have Hutchinson as a #3. No way!

Easy pass from a Toronto perspective for that reason alone.

I think TOR management still see a future for engvall and he is just out due to the numbers game, so I don't think they want to move him, if you take out him and nygard it's an overpay from EDM but I still doubt the leafs would want to hurt their own depth and help out a divisional opponent for a 3rd that's over a year away, maybe try a similar trade with an american team with 4 recent nhl goalies

No, he isn't. He is actually terrible.

He was propped up by a far superior Colorado team and still **** the bed. He is not an NHL goalie.

Point being, Dell is a far better option for the Leafs. They won't move him and risk Hutchinson as the #3. No chance.

The only problem is... The Leafs want to keep Hutchinson in the organization because he fills the criteria for the expansion draft. That box is now checked at minimal salary.

Lets just face it... The Leafs and the Oilers are just not good trading partners when it comes to goalies. Unless Edmonton wants something lower down the pecking order. I doubt very much that they do.
