Description
Why these haven't been the lines fo the last two games is beyond me, hyman works so much better with Matthews and marner than Thornton and that second line has looked great, Thornton as 3C seems like the perfect spot, kerfoot is better on the wing than at c, just feels so obvious up front, on D I'd like to see lehtonen get a chance over Bogo and Sandin over holl but without changing the roster this seems like an easy lineup

I think nick Robertson’s in the line up tonight. Hopefully him and vesey switch. I don’t want him playing 5 minutes.

I think kerfoot is hurt so I'd put robertson in his spot beside Thornton, vesey has look solid with JT and Nylander imo

Swap marner and nylander or explain how putting Hyman on that line so marner can continue to shoot the puck 8 feet wide at 20kmh is going to change.

I worked last year, why they messed with what worked IDK, and Nylander Tavares has worked great last year and to start this one so I definitely wouldn't split them up

Marner is doing too much thinking. Just go and do what you do best. Don't think shoot first think pass first but understand when taking a shot makes sense. It's the classic pendulum, he's swung way too far the other direction.

I agree, Nylander with JT is deadly, I don't want to Marner to go on that line and then try to he the goal scorer like he's doing with Matthews. Just do what you do. I don't care if Marner gets 70 assists and 1 goal, if he gets that many points it's because Matthews has scored an insane amount of goals.

Marner’s dad is doing too much thinking. I can’t even begin to imagine what toxic pollution he put in his kids mind during the offseason.

I agree with you 100% though. Mitch is incredibly skilled and can think the game at a fast pace. He needs Keefe to step in and give him direction. The exact advice you had.

My sentiment is if the pass (based on marner’s skill) has a 51% chance you try the pass if it creates high danger. Otherwise you get it to the net and grind it in.

My math if he gets the high danger to Matthews 50% of the time and mathews can bury those 50% of the time you will produce 1/4 of the time. These instances come up about between 5-10 times a game. That’s a whole lotta leaf wins.

That’s why I say put Willy there. Although not quite the vision and energy marner can bring he is an expert at making that shoot pass decision and can shoot the lights out.

Marner Tavares has already clicked once and if you go back two years those two combos were reversed and worked very well.

Marner has completely changed his game from last year. Total 180. No effort and no passing. It’s a short season and you need to act fast.

Marner missed the net at least 5 times by my count last night. Keefe has to remind him to play to his strengths
(Passing and PK) leave the sniping to Auston.

I have been saying for years, I actually think Nylander could he better than Marner if he ever gets it all together and so far it's looking like he may be happening.

In the last two games combined marner has 2 shots on 13 attempts.... that is abysmal!!!

I wouldn't say he is lacking effort, he's just trying to score too hard. It's a pendulum problem I think, he should shoot more but like 15-20% not 200% more. Shoot just enough to keep defenders honest and create space for Matthews. Anything more and you are taking away goals because everyone knows Matthews is the goal scorer.

Nylander’s contract is looking better by the day....
And Marner’s is looking worse.

Jumping on Marner is an overreaction and Nylander's deal looked terrific the moment he signed it.

I agree, I don’t know where this new shoot first mentality is coming from. I just hope it’s not his Dad

When you’re making $10.8 million a season there has to be accountability

Jumping on marner is a necessity for Keefe. Thornton and marner have done less than nothing. Should have literally been paid by melnyk last night to shut down Matthews.

Matthews Who in my books with Tavares Simmonds Hyman Reilly nylander holl and Dermott have been the leafs best players.

While Thornton bogosian marner vesey and Andersen have been the worst.

I would honestly be interested in seeing

Barabanov-Matthews-Hyman

Laugh all you want... Matthews scores 50 in 50.

I think Thorton is getting a rough shake, he's been fine, I do wonder if it's best for TO but he does a lot of things with the puck that never get noticed little passes to free space that opens up plays. I do think Nylander would be better with him and Matthews though, then he can dish the puck for both Nylander and Matthews and then Marner can dish to JT.

He sits back and pushes Matthews with his stick in his pants and shouts at him to go get the puck out of the corner... there’s no way you missed that.

Even with nylander someone has to get the puck, that someone will be Matthews and nylander...joe passes to the point I guess?

Thornton-Matthews-Hyman could work.

No comment on my barabanov-Matthews-Hyman line?

Yeah it’s not gonna happen but man it would be funny.

Yeah, but it would still work. I mean marner Matthews has produced jack **** in two games... can’t do any worse.

He hit the post in the first game and could have had a couple of goals in that one. He's fine and this is all just too much thinking from 2 games after no preseason.

Oh, I’m not saying theirs anything wrong with Matthews, he’s been doing it by himself both games. That’s why I suggested two workhorse wingers.
