... Is Barkov the more obtainable player for the Wild? I'd imagine Florida would want futures for him and the Wild have a lot of nice prospects.

That’s too much. I think it would be along the lines of boldy, Addison a 1st and something like bonino or mojo for the cap.

So as you probably already know, Russo keeps bringing Barkov up over the last year. It makes me think there is something there. Could just be because he use to cover the Panthers and keeps a eye on them, but I like to believe it's been a discussion with someone in the Wild organization that makes him bring him up.

Russo also suggested he would come cheaper than PLD. Which if you consider he won't be A RFA when his contract is up makes a bit of sense although most would consider Barkov the better player. So I'm of the opinion this is too much. Not sure what a comparable from the Wild would be to the Joe Thornton trade but I'm thinking it would be Dumba, Ek, and Boldy or the Penguins 1st. I could be totally off though. I really don't know what Sturm, Stuart, Primeau's value looked like in 2005.

Any way I'm gonna try that "Secret" thing where I put Barkov on a vision board with a wild jersey glued on his picture. You know that weird stuff and hopefully will him to the Wild, I suggest you do the same. Ok good talk!

It's the classic Russo cryptic name dropping. This probably is too much but holy s we need a 1C. We aren't winning anything with a revolving door of Rask, Bonino, Bjugstad, and Eriksson Ek as our top 9 centers. Id argue that even if we did acquire a PLD or Baekov we could still use another top 6 center...

Yeah hopefully the other top 6 guy will be Rossi when he is healthy. Wonder what's going on with him. My reckless speculation is he has a irregular heartbeat caused by his covid a few months ago. It's just weird it's so hushed and he seemed fine at the world Juniors. A lot of young athletes who have had covid show some heart damage I've read so it makes me overly paranoid on the whole thing.

Has Barkov said he wants out? Zito made it very clear that he isn't going to trade Barkov.

No idea what the long game is here for Minnesota. Are they rebuilding? Are they trying to get a cup run in before the Parise/Suter contracts become anchors?

Getting Barkov would make sense for the latter. I can't see the Panthers trying to deal him though since their also trying to contend.

He had to do a week of tests in Zurich after testing negative before he could be cleared to play again. Apparently a big part of that was heart and blood work so I don't think it would be that unless the Swiss doctors completely suck or just whiffed on this.

Thanks this is a reassuring. It's just weird and Russo made it sound like he won't be ready for some time.

Every GM in the history of sports has said that about every star-caliber player they have ever been asked about...

We have sort of already rebuilt, or are in the process of rebuilding at least. We traded away our former core of Granlund, Zucker, Niederreiter, Staal, and Coyle. Koivu is gone as well. Ideally we get someone younger than Barkov but he's still pretty young. Our defense is fantastic and with Talbot giving us average goaltending we have a shot to sneak into the playoffs with a legitimate 1C.

As for the Panthers, there's a chance they lose Barkov in free agency (how big of a chance that is is still unknown obviously) and if they feel he is leaning towards wanting out they may as well trade him for assets.

Barkov for sure is not cheaper than pld, but it would be probably more plausible to trade for him due to the kind of market that minnesota is
Barkov won't be traded, but this is an interesting idea

If Rossi pans out man needs a barkov or someone, and another year or so for the boldy/beckmans to start figuring out there game to be competitive. So a 1c and like 2 years is what the wild need. Plus dropping bonino and bjustand and mojo etc.

Just want to point out it sounds like I was right on the covid stuff with Rossi. I realize this makes me a ass and am sorry about that but I had a gut feeling. Sounds like they think he will be ok just might take a year.

Guessing either this condition hadn't showed up when he was tested or they didn't perform the adequate test to find it. Hope the kid's ok, hockey aside. Mentally that has to be crushing.
