It's an option, and offensively Spezza would likely bring more to the table than Faksa and Dickinson would.

Probably gonna be having Pavelski or Dellandrea there, but it's just an idea.

I understand my next comment isn't what this post is about, but here we are separating Divisions differently due to COVID and worried about the spread, but Forsberg just want from EDM to CAR and now back to the Canadian division with WPG. Do we think the NHL might step in to somehow stop this? Does TOR need to waive Spezza to send him to the taxi squad?

Unlikely. The taxi squad is a joke imo and a clever way of cap circumvention, but there's a price to pay of using that.

After all there aren't many waiver picks in the first place. Less than 10. Plus Forsberg would've never had got picked by WPG had NJ not take Comrie - which they wouldn't have done if Crawford hadn't called it quits. It's sort of a chain reaction.

Issue is Spezza made it pretty clear he does not want to play on other teams and would retire if Toronto didnt bring him back. Dubas chose very well who he wanted to waive as like Perry nobody is gonna claim him as if it occurred hes gonna no show and retire.
