Can you be considered to be having a breakout season if you are a rookie? I feel like the term is typically used for those who have been in the NHL but haven’t made a major impact yet

Like Brady Tkachuk for example. 2 years of 40pt seasons. If he gets 70pts in his 3 year, that’s a breakout. I don’t think Comtois is considered a breakout cuz he’s a rookie

Comtois actually isn’t a rookie, played 29 games last season

Ah nvm. Still I think 29 games isn’t enough to consider a next season as a breakout
