They should put Ceci on waivers.
There is no point in keeping him around at this point.
I'd say the same with Matheson but who the hell would take him.

that's the idea with Ceci, I don't think they can do the same with Matheson. I hate to say it but if they are to move him, they need him to play and better. He's got to stay home and not chase.

Matheson will be okay. I liked Ruhwedel a lot today. I definitely wouldn’t play ceci atm. Let’s see how long Matheson is out for. If he plays better we’ll be able to move him

"Mike was not a healthy scratch. He was injured in the last game. Right now, his status is ‘longer-term’ with an upper-body injury. I don’t have a timeframe for you at this point."

He's out a while i guess.
I think they should take this moment to see if POJ can play and just end that debate since many think he's NHL ready.
To be honest I didn't even notice he got hurt. He finished the last game from what I saw.

My idea is to trade Poulin/picks to Seattle at the expansion draft to draft Matheson if he still sucks. We have three LWers signed next year already and currently our top three RWers signed too. Poulin might not fit here next year and might be worth to give up to get 5m in cap space for free agency. Now, this is also a long ways away and just a thought.

I don't think they are going to move Poulin just to clear cap space.
I honestly don't know what they are going to do, but that just doesn't seem like an asset management win.
I agree the cap space is needed but so are younger players with speed and skill. While I agree there is no room on the LW, he is a RW. They could use help on RW if he can make it. It might take him 2 years though he's only 19 about to be 20. Normally you'd like to see a guy hit the ice by 21. But he doesn't get to play anywhere this year. So his development is slowed.
I think he's off limits to be honest. Unless they get a great return.

I also don't think they are in position to hand out 1st round picks anymore. The tires can be off at any point.
we'll see. I think they will continue to kick that can down the street. Swapping one bad contract for another. Or hope they can dish it in a move due to another teams bad fortune like they did Guddy.

I’ve got a buddy who’s a fan of his QMJHL team and says he can’t play right wing. That might change this season, but when tried there earlier in his career he didn’t fit well apparently. That’s not from me though just something I’ve heard. I mean, we could let them draft McCann for expansion by leaving him exposed and protecting Jank/Tanev. Then replace McCann with Poulin next season. But then we lose McCann and keep Matheson.

hornqvist wasn't a top 6 forward and while he might have been a Mentor truth is, his play deteriorated to the point where he wasn't a help.
They swapped bad contracts, for a younger guy with the hope of a rebound and potentially a move.
He wasn't a health scratch he was injured. We'll see.
Yeah it doesn't look great, but honrqvist brought nothing to the table at this point. At a bare minimum Mathewson brings depth.

he played RW the year he was drafted. While he does shoot left and probably does play better on the LW, as a young guy he's got to make his bones somewhere if he wants to crack the lineup.
They just aren't in positions to trade young skilled players with low cap hits.
Like I get the guys they have been trading.
Gustavsson was never gonna play here. It would A. take to long to develop and B. they had guys already lined up like Jarry.
Addison was undersized.
Hållander who I like, just hasn't made that next level jump yet. He's still young, but the penguins were looking at him being able to contribute now and figured, as did TOR that he couldn't and might not at all. You add that to the injury history and it was like, ok, lets move on.

Prospect wise what they gave up was a lot of potential that didn't seem like it was panning out. I don't think they feel the same way on Poulin yet.
