Trouba is going to waive NMC ? Why? When he refused to sign with anyone but NYR,NYI,NJD. Due to his fiancé’s residency after med school

So we're giving up 2 of our top 5 prospects, a 1st and Trouba for Kuznetsov?

Who says it was between the NYR,NYI and NJD for Trouba's services's? First off it was between the Rangers and Red Wings. Gorton gave Chevy his asking price while Holland balked. That's the only reason why Trouba is playing in New York saying that he'd only sign with those 3 teams is false.

I gladly take the COL deal but swiftly decline the Caps deal. Kuzy is quite a disaster at defense and his offense has weirdly dropped since 18-19. Not worth giving up 2 of out best futures, a number 2 d-man and a 1st for Kuzy.

I'd have to take out Miller because Washington has no room for him within the next 3 years lol

Trouba whined for many years about wanting to go to New York.

Source, When did Trouba say that. I watched his interviews and he said either New York City or home to Detroit were his preferred destinations.

Since when, There we no links with Trouba to New York. His future Wife only decided to make the move to New York slightly before he was dealt She doesn't even graduate from college until this year. Then she'll go to New York this coming summer.

Often you have your residency set up before you graduate not everyone let’s things wait until the last minute

There was definitely indications that Trouba wanted to go to New York years before his trade. Maybe it was more hearsay, but I do remember it.

    Absolutely nothing about Detroit though.

Avs decline, he’s Seattle bait, if they don’t take him that’s ok as they don’t care if it’s compher or donskoi.
They are moving graves for a minimal return

    Why would Seattle take him?

Dermott, Bean/Skjei, Mete, etc are all better LD options than Graves... There aren't too many TWD on the right side available.

If they don’t take him that’s cool, they can have compher or donskoi instead,

Just saying if they move graves it will be more than a 2nd.

What exactly do you think Graves is worth? Lol. If he's so great, why aren't they playing him with Makar again?

Players worth more than a 2nd aren't left unprotected bud...

Considering toews went for 2 2nds and zadorov got saad, graves for a2nd is light. He gets close to toews return

So a deep blue line where graves can play on your 3rd pair put is getting top 4 minutes is something you think diminishes his value? That’s backwards thinking

Saad had a terrible year and almost everyone knows that was a terrible trade for Chicago...

Toews is a good two way defenseman who can put up 30+ points a season and as you said, brought back two 2nds so how do you compare Graves to getting that kind of return when he doesn't bring the offense or the two way game that Toews does?

A 2nd is fair value for Graves in this market and you're lucky if you even get that.

Trading Graves for a draft pick does absolutely nothing for our cup chances this season. And with just a 2nd round pick we wouldn't be able to get a similarly valued LHD as Graves.

Thus, not only does it not make sense for Colorado strategically, but the value isn't right either.

Graves and Toews have very comparable stats up to now in their careers. Both joined the NHL in their mid-20's and have almost identical games played and points, suggesting that their value isn't far off eachother. In terms of asset value, this past offseason Toews only had 1 year left of team control, whereas Graves had 2, tipping the balance towards Graves.

Graves is now cost-controlled until 2023, at what is a very manageable caphit for a top 4 Dman. Toews went for 2 2nd's which was somewhat under-market value due to NYI's cap situation and the lack of buyers with capspace.

By contrast there will be no pressure on Colorado to trade Graves (certainly not the pressure NYI had), and if Graves were to get traded it would be in a better market than this past offseason as teams will have had a year to adjust to the flat cap and more capspace will open up. All of which suggests that just one 2nd round pick is not enough.

"Assuming he doesn't get picked by Seattle" that means this is next season...

Next season you will have Toews, Girard, and Byram on the left with Makar, Johnson, and Timmons on the right. No room for Graves.
