Cap Flexibility

Created by: jinx21
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 18, 2021
Published: Jan. 18, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I believe one of the $10M/YR players must be dealt to balance the lineup out. Matthews is the player I would least like dealt but is probably the easiest and most sought after.

I'm a Leafs fan in Alberta, so I have lots of Oilers and Flames friends. I know those two teams probably better than any other after the Leafs. As an Oilers fan, I'm sure you understand the importance of balance in the lineup. Luckily for you, the dynamic duo are not the cap issue at all.

I like Marner as well, just wasn't too happy with the contract demand. I've developed a soft spot for Nylander though. He gets undeservedly **** on in that market.

Used to be a Nylander hater, but his bounce back has been fantastic and he brings great scoring at a good price.

Two meh prospects isn’t sniffing the value of a
player with 30 goal upside and who has a sub 4 mil cap hit 2 years of contract and is still pretty young. Try again, would probably cost you a first and Niemela or something, he’ll with the current state of affairs in the league it could take more!

You're not getting a first and a prospect for a 30th overall that's never come close to a point a game. He's all yours!

Except he literally got 69 points in 77 games two years ago, he is honestly not that far off production wise from Nylander if he has a decent playmaker like Tavares or Marner with him, I can assure you he would produce almost a ppg and hover around 30 goals again if you played him with one of those two,. Or if you want you can just be ignorant. Also what does his draft position from 10 years ago have to do with anything, I guess Corey Perry or Pasternak were never worth a damn as well

Also the leafs literally got a 15th overall pick and a prospect for kasperi kapanen, a late first round who has yet to produce like Rakell has

Except, literally, 69 points in 77 games isn't close to a point per game. And that was by far his best season. His draft position is only relevant to establish he wasn't some elite prospect that still might take the next step. Nine years in, he is what he is. He's always played topline minutes, including PP1 - something Nylander has never gotten. Again, keep your player!

That was, literally, a multi-player deal. Apples to oranges.

Are you his mommy? Why so butthurt? Again, keep your player! smile

You don’t have to accept the exact trade scenario I presented but at the very least you could admit the current proposed trade you have made is a massive underevaluation of his value

I’m not trying to come off as combative and I’m not butt hurt, I’m just trying to engage in a simple conversation with you

I can say we agree to disagree!

Okay. I'm not trying to be combative either. It just doesn't appear we could agree on proper compensation for Rackell. You've made good points. It is a good contract.

You too man, I can certainly see you point of his value having dwindled as a result of the decreased production, also I agree Willy is the better player, especially seeing some of the snipes he has had to start the season!
