Very good coach that is well known as a players coach who gives players opportunities if skinner isn’t getting it there’s a reason why.

He plays him on the 4th but he does move him around all the time on the team so, it's not crazy although I'd like to see him with Tage and Lazar in the third.

This could play a cruel joke with Krueger in the future.

Yet Olofsson is significantly worse and is only good on the power play and he plays top 6 minutes.

except he is not a very good coach.

he has mismanged his lineup from day 1.

he has 6 puck moving defensmen and plays a dump and chase game.

he plays very limited offensive players significant minutes.

his penalty kill is terrible and he wont change it.

he is an excellent player. but he is playing with AHL talent.

He has produced since being a 30 goal scorer at age 18.

Carolina and Buffalo only stick (stuck) him with similar talented players for very short periods of time. His welcome with those doesnt last very long. He is the lightning mcqueen (pre radiator springs) of hockey and to top it off he doesnt play team defense. He is concerned with trying to steal the puck away while the other team is in the defensive zone, not matter how deep he gets. He doesnt hustle back after the puck leaves the zone. To make it even more frustrating, if he does steal the puck he is going to force a bad shot when playing 1 on 2 instead of waiting for teammates (more often than not).

So, who do you put him with? The Sabres and Canes both put him with 3rd /4th line guys who didnt mind not touching the puck every possession and was cool with playing on the PK even in ES situations. yes, he puts up a lot of goals but he is on the ice for more than he scores. That is not a +/- thing where the other team scores more in ES and Skinner scores a ton in PP situations. He is the Westbrook of the NHL. A guy that sells tickets because he is so talented but in reality isnt a guy you build around or expect to lead you to championships.

He doesn't score a ton of PP goals. 46 of his 54 goals as a sabre have been even strength. 53 career power play goals, 205 career even strength goals.

That is my point. Skinner isnt one of the plus/minus guys who are -5 because he scores a ton on PP situations but gives up a few in ES situations so the +/- stat looks worse than it really is.

Instead skinner scores his majority in ES and still finds a way to be grossly negative and give up a ton more ES goals than he adds. He isnt a team player. He is a one man show that will now be a cap anchor for the life of his deal. He will have a season or two during his time where he pots a ridiculous amounts of goals but still allows more. The contract will seem palatable then but he'll return to his 20-25 and -20 or so.
